Abstract: A method and controller for operating pumps wherein each pump is modelled by a QH model indicating a high-efficiency region, a high-H region and a high-Q region and a rotational speed limit. A controller dynamically maintains a current set of operating pumps and controls their rotational speed (n). In steady-state operation, wherein the pumps operate in the high-efficiency region and below the rotational speed limit, all pumps of the current set are controlled together. If the pumps operate in the high-Q region or beyond the speed limit, a new pump is added to the current set, started and brought to a speed that produces flow. A balancing operation (12-3) follows the pump addition operation, wherein the speed of the pumps of the current set are adjusted for equal heads. If the pumps operate in the high-H region, a pump is removed from the current set of pumps.

Abstract: An arrangement including a gearwheel connected to the propulsion unit, a steering electric motor operatively connected to the gearwheel and controlled by a drive, a force transmission arrangement including a clutch between the gearwheel and the steering electric motor, and a measurement unit for measuring rotational motion positioned at each side of the clutch. The steering electric motor is arranged to rotate the gearwheel and thereby also the propulsion unit. A difference in the output signals of the two measuring units indicating slipping of the clutch is detected. The steering electric motor is controlled to at least reduce the difference in the output signals when the difference exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: An arrangement and a method for sealing a propeller shaft of a marine vessel. The arrangement including a shaft seal arrangement and a lubrication arrangement including a lubricant circulation line for conducting lubricant to and from the shaft seal arrangement and a lubricant circulator. The lubricant circulation line includes a connection line that is connected in fluid connection with the lubricant circulation line downstream of the lubricant circulator and upstream of the shaft seal arrangement, and that is connected in fluid connection with a second part of the lubricant circulation line so as to selectively conduct a part of the flow of lubricant past the shaft seal arrangement. At least one hydraulically operated pressure relief means is configured to control the flow of lubricant in the connection line.

Abstract: A switching device including a frame, a roll element, a control shaft, a drive system and a roll spring. The control shaft is adapted to control rotation of the roll element such that rotating the control shaft from an ON-position to an OFF-position carries out an opening event in which the roll element transfers from a first position to a second position. The drive system includes an actuator and an actuator spring. The drive system is adapted to rotate the roll element during the opening event to an intermediate position located between the first position and the second position. The roll spring is connected between the frame and the roll element, and is adapted to rotate the roll element to the second position during the opening event.

Abstract: The propulsion unit includes a frame construction having an upper portion forming a support arm protruding from a hull of the vessel and a lower portion forming a longitudinal compartment provided with a propeller shaft having at least one propeller attached thereto, and a first electric motor driving the propeller shaft. The method includes measuring vibrations of the propulsion unit with at least one measuring device, forming a first auxiliary torque control signal based on the measured vibration signal, adding the first auxiliary torque control signal to a first torque control signal produced by a first torque controller of the first electric motor. The first auxiliary torque signal acts against the measured vibrations.
