Abstract: The embodiments disclosed herein provide managing power over Ethernet through a switch. In particular, the embodiments provide a mechanism for a Power Over Ethernet (POE) switch device to request change of operation of Citizens Broadband Radio Service Devices (CBSDs) to dynamically adjust power requirements of the CBSDs. The POE switch device is configured to determine a power transfer rate is outside a predetermined range, and send a request to an identified CBSD of a plurality of CBSDs to operate under a different power mode to alter a power requirement of the identified CBSD. In this way, the POE switch device dynamically manages operation of the plurality of CBSDs and distributes power among the plurality of CBSDs based on power requirements, loads, and/or Spectrum Access Systems (SAS) limitations of the plurality of CBSDs. Such a configuration increases the number and/or type of CBSDs that can be deployed in a particular region.

Abstract: An image processing system receives blurred images of a viewer viewing a display screen. At least a portion of the images are blurred to protect privacy of the viewer. The image processing system monitors motion of the viewer in the blurred images. Based on the monitored motion, the image processing system stores data indicating a reaction of the at least one viewer viewing content displayed on the display screen. For example, if the image processing system detects that motion in the blurred image is a person no longer viewing a display screen, the image processing system stores data indicating that the person is not interested in the content. Conversely, if the image processing system detects that the blurred image is a person who watches the content in its entirety, the image processing system assumes that the person is interested in the content.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing quasi-licensed intra-cell spectrum reassignment. In one embodiment, the quasi-licensed spectrum utilizes 3.5 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) spectrum, and a “seamless” reassignment of wireless spectrum without disruption or loss of continuity to existing data sessions of the CBSD is provided via a pool of temporary RF carriers which act as substitutes for the currently allocated (granted) carriers. The served user devices (e.g., UEs) are instructed by the CBSD to migrate to a new “final” carrier via the substitutes, either directly or via one or more intermediary hops. In one variant, existing 3GPP signaling mechanisms between the UE and CBSD/eNodeB obviates any changes to extant UEs. Communications between the CBSD and its cognizant SAS/DP include new information objects which direct the CBSD to implement the handover functionality. In a further variant, inter-CBSD sector and frequency handovers are provided for using CBRS-plane and 3GPP signaling.

Abstract: A wireless communication link between a wireless access point and a mobile communication device supports multiple data flows. Each of the data flows can be configured to convey a different type of data. Based on monitoring events/conditions such as conveyance of communications over each of the multiple data flows, a communication management resource selectively assigns data flow compression settings to each of the multiple data flows. Based on the assigned compression settings, the mobile communication device and/or wireless access point communicate packet delivery data (such as network address information) over the data flows. For example, in accordance with the generated compression settings, packet delivery data for data packets conveyed over a first data flow are compressed, while packet delivery data for data packets conveyed over a second data flow are not compressed.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a wireless device (e.g., a cell phone) has a transceiver, a processor, and a memory. The processor store periodic downlink (DL) data received from the transceiver in a periodic DL buffer in the memory, aperiodic DL data received from the transceiver in an aperiodic DL buffer in the memory, periodic uplink (UL) data in a periodic UL buffer in the memory, and aperiodic UL data in an aperiodic UL buffer in the memory. The processor determines in what order to handle the stored data in the periodic and aperiodic DL and UL buffers and handles the stored data in the determined order.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, a (CBSD) base station for a (CBRS) radio system transmits new information elements in an existing capability exchange message to a spectrum access system (SAS) informing the SAS as to whether the SAS should transmit a channel-change message to the base station either (i) directly (and despite of domain proxy being present in the communication path) or (ii) via a domain proxy. If and when the SAS subsequently receives notification of incumbent activity from an Environmental Sensing Capability system, the SAS transmits either a new channel-change message or includes new information elements in an existing heartbeat message to the base station either (i) directly or (ii) via the domain proxy per the capability exchange message. The SAS can combine multiple channel-change messages for multiple base stations into a single message for transmission to a domain proxy that can communicate with those multiple base stations, thereby reducing communications to and from the SAS and decreasing the time that it takes to change channels without jeopardizing existing traffic.

Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating a customer premise equipment (CPE) device. A network element management system may send an alteration request to a configurable coaxial tap. The alteration request may cause the configurable coaxial tap to alter the characteristics of the configurable coaxial tap and/or to manipulate the radio frequency (RF) characteristics of a CPE device coupled to the configurable coaxial tap. The network element management system may receiving impaired operation reports from a cable modem termination system (CMTS), and send an un-alteration request to the configurable coaxial tap. The un-alteration request may cause the configurable coaxial tap to undo the alterations to the characteristics of the configurable coaxial tap or to undo the manipulated RF characteristics of the CPE. The network element management system may receive and use information the CMTS to determine modem-tap-port correlations and the physical location of the CPE.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are remote controls with automated selection control. A remote control includes a microcontroller with a provisioned infrared remote library, which are programmed with control codes for a content device, a switch, an infrared light emitter, an indicator device, and a delay knob are connected to the microcontroller. The switch is associated with a selection function on the content device and with control codes. The microcontroller and the library, upon selection of a switch position at the switch, control the infrared light emitter to emit repetitive infrared control codes at the content device at a repetition rate responsive to a reaction time for switching the selection function at the content device, the repetitive infrared control codes automatically incrementing or decrementing the selection function at the content device. The delay knob sets the repetition rate. The indicator device indicates emissions from the infrared light emitter.
