Abstract:
A faucet housing includes a hollow copper base and at least one copper inlet conduit in communication with the hollow interior of the base. The conduit is brazed to the base with a no-lead solder so that the combination of the conduit, solder and base provides a lead-free environment for water passing therethrough. There is a hollow plastic body coaxial with the base, with the hollow interior of the body and the base together being of a size and shape to receive a faucet cartridge therein. There is an outlet opening in the body and there is a seal ring positioned between the body and the base. The body and base include interlocking structure for attaching the two together to form a lead-free faucet housing.
Abstract:
Mycalamide compounds are derived from marine sponges of the genus Mycale or prepared by synthetic methods. These compounds, and pharmaceutical compositions containing them as active ingredients, are useful as immunomodulatory agents.
Abstract:
An article of manufacture including a substrate, a patterned interlayer of a material selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide, barium-titanium oxide or barium-zirconium oxide, the patterned interlayer material overcoated with a secondary interlayer material of yttria-stabilized zirconia or magnesium-aluminum oxide, upon the surface of the substrate whereby an intermediate article with an exposed surface of both the overcoated patterned interlayer and the substrate is formed, a coating of a buffer layer selected from the group consisting of cerium oxide, yttrium oxide, curium oxide, dysprosium oxide, erbium oxide, europium oxide, iron oxide, gadolinium oxide, holmium oxide, indium oxide, lanthanum oxide, manganese oxide, lutetium oxide, neodymium oxide, praseodymium oxide, plutonium oxide, samarium oxide, terbium oxide, thallium oxide, thulium oxide, yttrium oxide and ytterbium oxide over the entire exposed surface of the intermediate article, and, a ceramic superconFIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to the field of superconducting articles having two distinct regions of superconductive material with differing in-plane orientations whereby the conductivity across the boundary between the two regions can be tailored. This invention is the result of a contract with the Department of Energy (Contract No. W-7405-ENG-36).
Abstract:
A non-dispersive infrared gas analyzer especially adapted for measuring the concentrations of HC, CO and CO.sub.2 in a vehicle exhaust includes a sample chamber for holding a sample gas, a radiation emitter for directing a beam through the chamber and a detector for indicating the amount of radiation absorbed. A plurality of filters each of which transmit radiation at an absorption band of a gas component to be detected are alternatingly positioned in the radiation path to produce a time-multiplexed signal having concentration information for all gases. The time-multiplexed detector output is corrected for gain and offset errors "on-the-fly", without requiring demultiplexing, through the use of an analog multiplier circuit. The correction factors are themselves determined without demultiplexing the detector output signal.
Abstract:
An apparatus for recording analysis of a reagent test strip having a plurality of color blocks for testing different constituents of a fluid, comprises a reference panel having a plurality of visually distinguishable and calibrated color areas or spots, a plurality of first lights for designating the testing of a different constituent or parameter, a plurality of second lights each located adjacent a different color spot, a cavity or space adjacent groups of color spots, detection optical detector for detecting the presence of the reagent strip positioned in the space, and a microcomputer for recording and storing test results and having means for directing sequential testing of the different parameters and for turning the lights on and off during the sequential testing. The apparatus includes switches for signaling the microcomputer to record and store the test data and for turning the apparatus on and off. The invention includes a process for operating the apparatus.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the methods for the synthesis and use of acetylenic carbinols and their analogs, having various immunomodulatory properties in vitro and in vivo.
Abstract:
Novel bioactive compounds have been isolated from blue-green alga. These compounds have been found to have antitumor, antiviral, and immunomodulatory properties. Thus, these compounds, and derivatives thereof, can be used to treat human and animal tumors, inhibit viral growth, and provide immunomodulatory activity.
A plurality of filters, each of which transmit radiation at an absorption band of a gas component to be detected, are alternatingly positioned in the radiation path to produce a time-multiplexed signal having concentration information for all gases. A calibration assembly is provided which includes a plurality of calibration cells selectively positionable in the radiation path in order to provide an internal calibration standard for two-point calibration of each gas channel. The cells contain one or more of the gas components to be measured at concentrations and pressures predetermined to compensate for the difference in optical path length between the calibration cells and the sample chamber. A technique is provided for characterizing the calibration cells in situ after a conventional calibration, using bottled calibration gas, is performed.
