Abstract:
A continuous ink jet printer comprises a gutter for collecting ink droplets not used in printing. Pumping apparatus draws ink from the gutter and control apparatus is configured to vary the level of pumping by the pumping apparatus depending on the temperature or other parameter of the ink. As the temperature of the ink increases the level of pumping is reduced. The pumping apparatus may comprise two venturi pumps connected in parallel each having its throat connected to the gutter.
Abstract:
An inkjet printing system and method for printing comprising a printhead having two columns of nozzles, and the printhead is in fluid communication with an ink source and in electrical communication with a controller. In response to the print control signals transmitted from the controller, the printhead ejects ink from the two columns in alternating succession to print images having a checkerboard pattern.
Abstract:
A solvent-based ink composition for a thermal inkjet printhead includes (a) 55-90 wt. % of an organic solvent including a ketone and a C1 to C4 alcohol; and (b) 0.01-10 wt. % of a colorant.
Abstract:
A laser chamber is provided that increases power, initiation, and discharge efficiency over single chamber lasers by providing a multi-fold laser chamber, protrusions, discharge segmentation and inversion techniques.
Abstract:
An ink supply system for an ink jet printer including an ink bottle having a cap assembly secured to an outlet neck, an ink reservoir having an ink filling passage, and an insert receptacle positioned within the ink filling passage. The insert receptacle includes a probe having an inlet end and an outlet end. The system also includes an actuating assembly that is configured to mate the ink bottle with the ink reservoir by mating the cap assembly of the ink bottle with the probe of the insert receptacle.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for inhibiting the peeling of labels from a web is disclosed. A web with a plurality of labels is pulled towards a peeling edge. An antenna examines at least one of the labels. Based at least in part on the antenna's examination of at least one label, one or more of a peel inhibiting device and a peeling edge is moved towards or away from the other. The combination of the edge and device forms a rounded surface over which the web and labels are pulled. As the web and label(s) pass across the combination of the edge and device, the separation of at least one of the labels from the web is inhibited.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a pressure damping ink filter for use with an ink jet printer. The pressure damping ink filter includes at least one flow control member and a filter. The flow control member, in combination with any pressure damping provided by the thickness of the filter medium and the ink volume capacity of the filter housing, may substantially reduce, if not eliminate, pressure fluctuations in the ink stream that are generated by a high frequency electric pump. The flow control member may be a fixed or variable input restrictor and a fixed or variable output restrictor. The input restrictor and/or output restrictor may also be located inside or outside of the filter housing. Further, the input and output restrictors may be molded as part of the filter housing or the filter itself.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an ink composition, particularly an ink jet ink composition, comprising one or more organic solvents, one or more solvent-soluble binder resins, and a water-insoluble quinone dye, wherein the quinone dye is present in the ink composition in a dissolved state and the ink composition is a single phase ink composition. Also disclosed is a method of printing images on a substrate employing the ink composition.
