Abstract:
The invention relates to methods and devices for treating disorders with electric current or electric field therapy. The invention uses applied electric current or current induced by an external electric field to alter ionic concentrations and modulates at least one G-protein-coupled receptor. The invention is useful, for example, for treating hyperproliferative and cardiovascular disorders and for ameliorating the effects of stress.
Abstract:
Complex computer graphics forms and motions can be constructed either by hand or with motion or geometry capture technologies, once they are created, they are difficult to modify, particularly at runtime. Interpolation provides a way to leverage artist-generated source material. Methodologies for efficient runtime interpolation between multiple forms or multiple motion segments enables computers to perform more realistic animation in real-time. Shape interpolation is applied to predefined figures to create smoothly skinned figures that deform in natural ways. Predefined figures are selected using a search technique that reduces the amount of interpolation required to produce real-time animation.
Abstract:
A GPS receiver (1) has an antenna (3) mounted directly on a first side (4) of a multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) substrate 2. Electrical conductors interconnect the antenna (3) with an RF processing system (11,12) and a digital processing system (10, 14, 15, 16) mounted directly on a second side (5) of the PCB substrate (2). A position connector (17) is disposed on one side of the PCB substrate (2) and provides power, ground, and direct electrical access of processed GPS signals for an external system such as a mobile vehicle system.
Abstract:
A traction assembly of a work machine having (i) a differential housing having an axle passageway extending therethrough and (ii) an axle positioned within the axle passageway is disclosed. The traction assembly includes a gear mechanically coupled to the axle. The gear includes (i) an outer peripheral surface having a plurality of sensor teeth defined therein, (ii) a first shoulder extending in a first lateral direction, and (iii) a second shoulder extending in a second direction. The traction assembly also includes a bearing assembly attached to the differential housing, wherein (i) the bearing assembly includes a first bearing member and a second bearing member, (ii) the gear is interposed between the first bearing member and the second bearing member, (iii) the first shoulder of the gear contacts a first journal surface of the first bearing member, and (iv) the second shoulder of the gear contacts a second journal surface of the second bearing member. The traction assembly further includes a sensor for detecting rotation of the gear relative to the differential housing and generating a sensor signal in response thereto.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for preventing or reducing N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor agonist-mediated neuronal cell death by administering a glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) protein product.
Abstract:
Methods are described for generating a user interface displaying at least a useful image, wherein the useful image has been created in some embodiments by means of: determining, over a period of time, a first set of a first amount of values of a gait attribute, and obtaining, using the first set and leveraging a matrix factorization, a second set of a second amount of values representing colors.
Abstract:
A tire traction assembly for mounting upon a tire. The assembly includes a plurality of flexible members such as chains or cables engaged in pivoting connections with brackets at opposing ends. A separable adjustable connector such as a toothed member is attached to a first of the two brackets and configured for engagement with a ratchet mechanism attached to the second of the brackets to releasably secure the tire traction assembly around the tire. A plurality of traction cables configured to traverse the rolling surface of the tire are located in-between the brackets. The brackets may include a planar tread plate which has opposing planar side surfaces configuring the brackets to a U-shape.
Abstract:
Methods for controlling a mobile or wearable device user's representation in real time are described, where the user is performing a gait activity with a gait velocity, and the gait velocity is used for control. Additional user's mobility characteristics leveraged for control may include cadence and stride length, and the sensors utilized to obtain any contextual information may be accelerometers.
Abstract:
Disclosed are techniques for providing a presentation as a virtual tour through a user's portfolio based on receiving signals that correspond to user movements in the physical world and processing the signals to select generated images associated with the user's movements to generate an image that when rendered on a display device renders a visual representation of the portfolio in a virtual world.
