Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process identifier for a communication between the UE and a base station using a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration or a configured grant (CG) configuration, wherein the determination of the HARQ process identifier is based at least in part on an offset applied for the determination of the HARQ process identifier; and perform the communication based at least in part on the HARQ process identifier. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, for a base station, a configuration message indicating a set of random access resources associated with monitoring by a relay node. The UE may transmit a random access message using the random access resources to the relay node and a timing advance associated with uplink data transmissions by the UE. The UE may then communicate with the base station via the relay node based on the random access message. In some examples, a UE may monitor for a relay reference signal from a relay node. The UE may determine a signal strength and a timing of the relay reference signal. The UE may determine whether an RSRP satisfies a threshold receive power, and may determine whether the timing of the relay reference signal is less than a timing threshold. The UE may transmit a downlink relay request to the base station to initiate relay communications.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques may provide for efficiently triggering a handover at a user equipment (UE) from a source cell to a target cell. The UE may receive, at a first time period, a first control message including a configuration of a target cell to use at a second time period for performing a handover procedure from a source cell to a target cell. The UE may then receive, at the second time period, a second control message triggering the UE to perform the handover procedure from the source cell to the target cell. The UE may use the configuration of the target cell received in the first control message to perform a handover procedure from the source cell to the target cell at the second time period in response to receiving the second control message.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication using satellite access to a wireless network, where a wireless cell supported by a satellite is moving or temporarily fixed. In an aspect, a radio access network (RAN) entity or a user equipment (UE) provides, to a core network entity, an enhanced cell global identifier (CGI), where the enhanced CGI includes at least one field representing a location of the UE. Based on the enhanced CGI, the core network entity determines a location of the UE, and may provide a service to the UE based on the location. A core network may also provide an enhanced CGI to a RAN, e.g., to support wireless emergency alerting to UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which UEs may communicate with satellites and base stations or gateways in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). Due to the large distances between transmitting devices and receiving devices in a NTN, timing adjustments to account for propagation delay communications links via a satellite may include a propagation delay between a UE and a satellite, a propagation delay between a base station and a satellite, as well as a variation in the propagation delays due to movement of the satellite. In accordance with various techniques discussed herein, a UE may account for variation in propagation delay, in addition to determined propagation delay, when determining an uplink timing for uplink communications via a satellite.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a multicast service available for subscription by the UE or to which the UE is already subscribed. The UE may transmit a message, to a network node, that may include UE assistance information (UAI) indicating at least one of a UE capability to process multicast transmissions or a feedback scheme preference for reporting feedback for the multicast transmissions. The UAI may also include at least one of a multicast carrier preference, band or carrier measurement report, a multicast priority indication, or a measurement and reporting scheme preference for the multicast transmissions. The network node may receive the UAI and determine one or more parameters for multicast communications with the UE based on the UAI. The UE may receive the multicast transmissions from the network node in accordance with the UAI.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow coverage enhancement and support in NTNs for repetition, frequency hopping, and antenna switching during msgA transmissions based on a preamble-to-PO mapping. In one aspect, the base station provides and the UE obtains a RACH configuration associating a preamble with at least one PO for two-step random access, where the PO spans a time interval greater than one slot. In another aspect, the base station provides and the UE obtains a RACH configuration associating a preamble with a plurality of POs for two-step random access. In a further aspect, the base station provides the UE a plurality of configurations each indicating a PO for two-step random access. In an additional aspect, the base station provides the UE a configuration indicating a guard band for a PO for two-step random access, where the guard band is indicated in units of subcarriers spanning less than one PRB.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently facilitating acknowledgment (ACK) or negative acknowledgment (NACK) feedback from a user equipment (UE) for a set of transport blocks in one or more multicast transmissions from a base station. The UE may determine control channel resources for transmitting the ACK/NACK feedback, and each respective control channel resource may correspond to a distinct subset of the set of transport blocks. Once the UE determines a subset of transport blocks that the UE failed to decode (such as at least one transport block), the UE may determine a respective control channel resource that corresponds to the at least one transport block that the UE failed to decode. The UE may transmit ACK/NACK feedback on the respective control channel resource, which, in some examples, may indicate that the UE failed to decode the subset of transport blocks.

Abstract: A base-station (BS) receiving a random access request from user equipment (a UE), followed by a connection request. The connection request contains UE identity information which may have one of multiple formats depending on whether the access request and/or the connection request indicate that the UE is operating as a bandwidth-limited (BL) UE, an enhanced coverage (CE) UE, or a UE that operates in neither the BL mode nor the CE mode. In the BL mode, the UE may transmit a truncated identifier that is sufficient for the BS to retrieve capability information for the UE prior to transmitting a resource grant to the UE. The BS may then configure the UE and BS to using a radio configuration optimized for the UE's capabilities and transmit the resource grant in accordance with the optimized configuration.
