Abstract: A system and method to dynamically balance power to a multi-node system is disclosed. A chassis management controller is operable to regulate the power from a power source to each of the nodes. The chassis management controller determines a setting power for each nodes and a real power consumed by each node. The chassis management controller determines a next setting power for each node based on the real power and unused total power and total additional balance power for the plurality of nodes. The chassis management controller commands each node to regulate the power consumption of the node up to the setting power value.

Abstract: A computing device configured to detect proper cable assembly to improve assembly and problem diagnosis is provided. The BMC is connected to I2C buses. The function board includes integrated circuits. The middle plane includes cable connections interconnecting the I2C buses that are connected to the BMC and the integrated circuits. The integrated circuits have unique system addresses that are identifiable by the BMC.

Abstract: A system includes a plurality of servers in a server rack and a plurality of baseboard management controllers (BMCs), each associated with a respective server from the plurality of servers. The system further includes a rack management controller (RMC). A first BMC of a first server determines component types of hardware components in the first server, determines a quantity of each of the component types in the first server, determines a first weight information of the first server based on the component types and the quantity of each of the component types, and sends to the RMC the first weight information. The RMC determines a weight of other components in the server rack, and calculates a loaded rack weight of the server rack based on the first weight information and the weight of other components.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a computer chassis design, which includes a sled and a sliding bracket. The sliding bracket includes a removable power supplier socket on a first end and a sliding return lever on the second end. When the sled is removed from the computer chassis, the removable power supplier socket can move out of the chassis via a set of mechanisms. The set of mechanisms can include an elastic element to cause the power supplier socket to automatically rotate out of the chassis. The sled can be shaped to extend behind the power supplier socket.

Abstract: In some implementations, a hard drive carrier is configured to couple and decouple a hard drive to/from a chassis (e.g., motherboard). The hard drive carrier can receive and house a hard drive in a base securing portion, the base securing portion adapted to slide and tilt in relation to a base of the hard drive carrier. The hard drive carrier can include a pivoting lever comprising a handle that can be used to couple and decouple the hard drive from the motherboard. Using the handle to pivot the lever into an open position causes the hard drive to tilt upwards to decouple from the chassis and facilitate insertion or removal of the hard drive to/from the hard drive carrier. Pivoting the lever into a closed position causes the hard drive to lie flat and couple to the chassis.

Abstract: A battery device includes at least a battery cell, a management chip and a bus. The management chip is coupled to the battery cell for detecting voltage or remaining capacity of the battery cell and managing an operation state of the battery device according to the voltage or the remaining capacity of the battery cell. The bus is coupled to the management chip. The management chip communicates with a host device via the bus. The management chip further determines whether the remaining capacity of the battery cell is not increasing while in a charging state. When the remaining capacity of the battery cell is not increasing while in the charging state, the management chip activates a protection mechanism to make the battery device exit the charging state.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for enabling an administrator or a controller to update BIOS setup options on a server system and then automatically update the BIOS setup options on other server systems in a baseboard management controller (BMC) virtual local area network (VLAN). For example, the method may comprise: receiving, at a specific controller of a node, a command to update the BIOS setup option; determining whether the specific controller is a master by checking an internal flag of the specific controller; in an event that the specific controller is neither a master or a slave, broadcasting a master request to the VLAN; determining whether a reply is received within a predetermined time period; in an event that the reply is not received, setting the internal flag of the specific controller as a master; and sending an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) completion response.
