Abstract:
Effective real-time collaboration across remote sites in which any type of data can be shared in a common work space in a consistent manner is made possible by an annotation layer having multiple distinct modes of operation during a collaborative session with two or more people sharing the same work space. One mode is a discussion mode in which one or more users simply share a common view of the shared data and manipulate the view independent of the shared data. During the discussion mode, all user input is handled by the annotation layer which interprets user inputs to move common cursors, create, move or delete markings and text which, since the annotation layer is transparent, appear over the application. Another mode is an edit mode in which one or more users actually edit the shared data. The applications and the data are synchronized among all clients to display the same view. Manipulating the view includes moving a common cursor and placing markings on the common view using text and/or drawing tools.
Abstract:
The present invention provides the complete nucleotide sequence of a bovine adenovirus. The invention further provides bovine adenovirus vectors and expression systems which can be used, among other things, for insertion of foreign sequences, for provision of DNA control sequences including transcriptional and translational regulatory sequences, for diagnostic purposes to detect the presence of viral nucleic acids or proteins encoded by these regions in a subject or biological sample, for provision of immunogenic polypeptides or fragments thereof, for vaccines and for gene therapy. Cell lines comprising the vectors of the invention, and methods for making bovine adenovirus vectors are also provided.
Abstract:
A technique for preventing damage to ball bearings in small form factor devices where the drive motor has at least one piezoelectric crash stop ring disposed about the shaft and inside the rotor of the motor. The crash stop ring must be dimensioned to permit only a small amount of movement of the rotor relative to the shaft. The permitted movement is less than the minimum movement which would cause damage to the elements of the ball bearing.
Abstract:
A disk drive includes a data storage disk rotatably mounted in a housing. An access arm is rotatably mounted in the housing and has an access head at a distal end thereof for travel over the disk to write data thereto and read data therefrom. A pair of counter imbalanced inertia locks are operatively joined between the housing and the access arm for inertia latching the access arm upon shock loading of the access arm to prevent movement thereof over the disk irrespective of combinations of linear and angular shock loading.
Abstract:
A mass to be levitated is provided with an electrically conductive surface that is acted upon by an oscillating electrical force field generated by a plurality of charged conductive plates. The levitated mass is kept in static equilibrium in the electric field by driving the resonant circuit with an applied time varying voltage that has a frequency greater than the natural frequency of the resonant circuit. Motion of the mass is accomplished by providing actuator elements that are selectively charged to attract the mass in a given direction. Alternatively, the mass may be moved by employing a plurality of levitation control circuits that are sequentially energized.
