Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for paging a user terminal (UT) in a non-terrestrial network (NTN), which may define a plurality of NTN tracking areas (TA). Each NTN TA, served by one or more satellite beams, may move or may be a geographic region. The UT may report its location before changing its connection state with the NTN and may also update its location whenever it moves a threshold distance from the previous reported location. The NTN may estimate UT's current location based on the last reported location and other factors including mobility of the UT. The NTN may determine a UT TA as the NTN TA that corresponds to the current location, and may page the UT through one or more satellite beams corresponding to the UT TA.

Abstract: In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration from a base station that indicates whether to use a first channel quality indicator (CQI) table from a first set of CQI tables associated with terrestrial network communications or whether to use a second CQI table from a second set of CQI tables associated with non-terrestrial network communications. The UE may transmit CQI feedback to the base station based at least in part on the configuration. The UE may transmit the CQI feedback using the first CQI table when the configuration indicates that the first CQI table is to be used or may transmit the CQI feedback using the second CQI table when the configuration indicates that the second CQI table is to be used.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, an indication of a capability of the UE to switch from monitoring a set of frequency resources according to a first subcarrier spacing (SCS) to monitoring the set of frequency resources according to a second SCS, less than the first SCS. The indication may indicate an amount of time for the UE to switch between SCSs. The UE may receive, from the base station, signaling that indicates a configuration for monitoring the set of frequency resources according to the second SCS (e.g., a configuration for a reduced SCS window). The UE may switch from monitoring the set of frequency resources according to the first SCS to monitoring the set of frequency resources according to the second SCS based on receiving the configuration for monitoring the set of frequency resources.

Abstract: Provided herein are various techniques and solutions to paging user equipment (UE). In particular, paging at higher levels of granularity, such as a beam level, for low mobility or stationary UEs in inactive and/or idle states are described. An apparatus may be configured to receive, from a network, a message configuring at least one beam notification area associated with positioning of the apparatus. The at least one beam notification area may include a set of beams corresponding to a set of cells identified by the network as candidates for carrying a paging message for the apparatus in the at least one beam notification area. The apparatus may be further configured to receive the paging message from the network via one of the set of beams corresponding to one of the set of cells in which the apparatus is positioned based on the at least one beam notification area.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a number of channel state information (CSI) reports for a CSI reporting procedure as part of a beam management procedure. The UE may transmit a first number of CSI reports of the CSI reporting procedure to the base station using a first set of transmission parameters associated with a first reliability level. The base station may transmit a control message to the UE indicating a second set of transmission parameters associated with a second reliability level and the UE may transmit a second number of CSI reports of the CSI reporting procedure to the base station using the second set of transmission parameters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may identify an energy per resource element (EPRE) ratio between a synchronization signal block (SSB) symbol containing a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and an SSB symbol containing a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), or both, based on an operating band for the UE, a bandwidth of the SSB symbol containing the PSS and the SSB symbol containing the SSB, the PBCH, or both. The EPRE ratio may be based on maximum regulatory equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) limits, maximum regulatory power spectral density (PSD) limits for the band, or both. The EPRE ratios may be different for different SSB symbols, when different SSB symbols have different bandwidths. A base station may configure and transmit, and a UE may receive, the SSB according to the identified EPRE ratio.

A user equipment (UE) may identify a search space for a first control channel, and the rate-matching of the data transmission may be performed based on a location of the search space in the control resources. In some cases, a base station may provide a mapping of resources (e.g., a bitmap) within the control resources that are occupied, which may be used for rate-matching.

The UE may receive one or more instances of the first synchronization signal according to the transmission pattern for the first synchronization signal. The UE may modify the established connection with the base station based at least in part on the received one or more instances of the first synchronization signal.

In some systems, a user equipment (UE) and a base station may support beamforming communication techniques and may communicate using one or more beams. The UE may support a bandwidth part (BWP) hopping pattern and may perform a beam failure detection (BFD) procedure across the supported BWPs. While performing the BFD procedure, the UE may declare beam failure and may determine whether to switch to an anchor BWP to initiate a beam failure recover (BFR) procedure or to remain on an active BWP to initiate the BFR procedure. In some implementations, the UE may determine whether to switch to the anchor BWP or to remain on the active BWP to initiate the BFR procedure based on an indication from the base station.

An attribute or content of the first message may indicate a request for a second type of control signaling that including fewer bits than a first type of control signaling. The UE may receive a second message of the two-step random access procedure including the second type of control signaling based on the first message. The UE may communicate with the base station on resources scheduled by the second message on a downlink shared channel.
