Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for transmitting and receiving a signal using a sequence in a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving, from a base station, information indicating whether group hopping or sequence hopping for the reference signal is applied or not; transmitting, to the base station, the signal using a first sequence based on a plurality of sequence groups if the group hopping is applied; and transmitting, to the base station, the signal using a second sequence to which the sequence hopping is applied if the sequence hopping is applied and a number of resource blocks allocated for the second sequence is greater than or equal to a predetermined value.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for a Node B to transmit Reference Signals (RS) from multiple antennas to enable User Equipments (UEs) to perform demodulation of received information signals and to estimate Channel Quality Indication (CQI) metrics. To minimize overhead and enable backward compatible operation with legacy systems, RS from a first set of Node B antennas are transmitted in every transmission time interval and substantially over the whole operating BandWidth (BW). RS from a second set of Node B antennas serving for CQI estimation are periodically transmitted, substantially over the whole operating BW, with transmission period informed to UEs through broadcast signaling by the Node B and starting transmission sub-frame determined from the identity of the cell served by the Node B. RS from the second set of antennas, and new RS from the first set of antennas, serving for demodulation of information signals have substantially the same BW as the information signals which can be smaller than the operating BW.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for wireless communications. Configuration information including a resource start offset and information for a transmission type of an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) are transmitted. Downlink control information (DCI) is transmitted to a user equipment (UE) using at least one antenna port of a base station on the EPDCCH using at least one of control channel elements (CCEs). A resource of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) is determined based on a first CCE of the at least one of CCE, information in the DCI, and the resource start offset in the configuration information, if the transmission type of the EPDCCH is distributed transmission. A hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) signal is received on the determined resource.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for communication between a UE and a Node B in a communication system. The UE receives a control signal including one bit of frequency hopping information, a resource allocation type, a resource allocation, and a cyclic shift for a reference signal from the Node B. It is determined that the frequency hopping information is used as a part of resource allocation information, if the resource allocation type indicates that two sets of resource blocks are allocated. The UE transmits data based on the frequency hopping information, the resource allocation type, and the resource allocation included in the control signal. Each of the resource blocks comprises one or more resource block groups, and a size of each resource block group is determined based on an uplink bandwidth.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for a User Equipment (UE) to transmit in a control channel ACKnowledgement signals associated with a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest process (HARQ-ACK signals) in response to receiving Transport Blocks (TBs) transmitted from a base station. The UE conveys the HARQ-ACK information by selecting one resource from multiple resources in the control channel and by selecting a constellation point of the modulation scheme for the HARQ-ACK signal. Transmission diversity is supported using different control channel resources that are already available to the UE without configuring additional resources. Design principles are described to optimally map the HARQ-ACK information to control channel resources and modulation constellation points for a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system and for a Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) system.
