Abstract: Systems and methods for radio beam management for a wireless network are described. An illustrative system includes a memory configured to store instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to determine that a user equipment (UE) device is located at a geographic location, determine a prioritization of beams associated with the geographic location, and direct the UE device to apply the prioritization of beams associated with the geographic location for beam scanning at the geographic location. The prioritization of beams may be generated based on historical beam signal strengths at the geographic location. In certain examples, an analytics engine applies a machine learning algorithm to generate the prioritization of beams based on inputs that include historical beam signal strengths reported by UE devices at the geographic location.

Abstract: A device may receive channel data associated with a channel provided between a network and a user device, and may calculate, based on the channel data, key performance indicator data that includes a plurality of key performance indicators for the channel. The device may multiply the plurality of key performance indicators by factors to generate factored key performance indicator data that includes a plurality of factored key performance indicators. The device may apply weights to the plurality of factored key performance indicators of the factored key performance indicator data to generate factored weighted key performance indicator data that includes a plurality of factored weighted key performance indicators. The device may calculate a quality indicator for the channel based on the factored weighted key performance indicator data, and may perform one or more actions based on the quality indicator for the channel.

Abstract: A computer device may include a memory configured to store instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to select a base station; obtain one or more metric values for user equipment (UE) devices attached to the selected base station; and determine usage categories for at least some of the UE devices attached to the selected base station, wherein a usage category identifies a combination of a data type, a movement type, and a user type associated with a particular UE device. The processor may be further configured to execute the instructions to classify the obtained one or more metric values based on the determined usage categories; select one or more optimization actions for the selected base station based on the classified one or more metric values; and instruct the selected base station to perform the selected one or more optimization actions.

Abstract: A middle-tier self-organizing network (mSON) may obtain configuration parameters concerning a cluster, one or more operating profiles, and one or more usage schedules respectively associated with the one or more operating profiles, from a centralized self-organizing network (cSON). The mSON may identify a distributed self-organizing network (dSON) of one or more dSONs associated with the cluster and may select, based on identifying the dSON, an operating profile, of the one or more operating profiles, and a respective usage schedule of the one or more usage schedules. The mSON may generate, based on the configuration parameters, monitoring information, and may send the operating profile, the usage schedule, and the monitoring information to the dSON.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide a short data, low latency service using a Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) network. A network device receives, in a core network, an attach request from an end device and detect whether a packet size range for data transmissions from the end device is within a configured size threshold. The network device directs, when the packet size is within the configured size threshold, routing of the data transmissions via a control plane function of an edge network to a local instance of an application server in the edge network. The network device directs, when the packet size is over the configured size threshold, routing of the data transmissions via a user plane function of the edge network to a local instance of an application server in the edge network.

Abstract: A device may determine a coverage area associated with a base station. The device may determine a handover weight associated with one or more user equipments (UEs) connected to the base station in the coverage area, wherein the handover weight indicates a degree of mobility of the one or more UEs. The device may identify a geographic region associated with the coverage area and may determine information concerning the geographic region that includes information concerning one or more roads in the geographic region. The device may determine a mobility rating associated with the coverage area based on the handover weight or the information concerning the geographic region. The device may select a beam management profile based on the mobility rating and may send the beam management profile to a different device to allow the different device to control the base station according to the beam management profile.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for network slice selection during an initial connection. A wireless station receives, from a core network device, network slice data for each network slice available via the wireless station, wherein the network slice data includes a slice identifier and corresponding slice characteristics for each network slice. The wireless station receives, from a user equipment (UE) device, a registration request message that indicates a network slice characteristic required by an application being executed on UE device. The wireless station selects, based on the network slice data from the core network device and the network slice characteristic from the UE device, one of the slice identifiers for servicing the UE device.
