Abstract: The present invention relates to a measuring device for characterising a shape of a surface of an item, such as a wind turbine blade fibre layup, wherein the measuring device comprises: a frame comprising a holding frame, a first set of two or more probes movably held in the holding frame, each probe having a respective probe end for contacting the surface of the item, and electronic sensing means configured to provide for each probe a respective electrical signal representative of a position of the probe relative to the holding frame. A method for calibrating such a device is provided. Further, a method for characterising a shape of a surface of an item is provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a spar cap for a wind turbine blade comprising a plurality of pre-cured fibre-reinforced elements and a plurality of interlayers. The plurality of pre-cured fibre-reinforced elements include a first pre-cured fibre-reinforced element and a second pre-cured fibre-reinforced element and the plurality of interlayers include a first interlayer comprising a first plurality of fibres embedded in a first cured resin. The first interlayer is being arranged between the first pre-cured fibre-reinforced element and the second pre-cured fibre-reinforced element. The first plurality of fibres have a first elastic modulus, the first cured resin has a second elastic modulus, the first and/or second pre-cured fibre-reinforced elements have a third elastic modulus, and the first interlayer has a fourth elastic modulus. The ratio between the first elastic modulus and the second elastic modulus is between 1:4 and 4:1 and/or the ratio between the third elastic modulus and the fourth elastic modulus is between 1:4 and 4:1.

Abstract: A method for assembling an integrated wind turbine blade shell, comprising:
attaching and distributing cleats onto the first wind turbine shell part at a distance from the first edge of a first wind turbine blade part, wherein a ledge surface and a rail of each cleat define, together with the interior surface, a ledge for supporting a glue flange;
securing a clamp tool to the anchor of each cleat;
resting the separately manufactured glue flange on the ledge surface of each cleat;
closing the first and second wind turbine blade shell parts;
actuate the clamp tools to clamp the glue flange between the clamp head of each clamp tool and interior surface; and
detaching and removing the clamp tools from the cleats.-
