Abstract: This invention relates to a replaceable adhesive display comprising a paper, metallized paper, or foil substrate printed on one or both sides with the same or different images, and at least one side is provided with a transparent overlay. The exposed surface of the plastic film overlay is coated with a pressure-sensitive, replaceable adhesive, but in order to achieve proper bonding between the overlay and the adhesive, the overlay surface is treated to enhance the bond between the overlay and adhesive. Following the surface treatment, the overlay is coated with a pressure-sensitive, replaceable adhesive. When the display is removed or peeled from the mounting surface, there is a relatively clean separation at the interface between the adhesive and the surface of the adherend, and substantially no residue remains on the surface. The adhesive is reusable or resealable and permits remounting the display many times. Preferably, a quick-release member is provided over the coating to protect the coating.

Abstract: A protective label form and carrier is disclosed which includes a carrier (A) having individual label forms (B) carried horizontally spaced on the carrier. Each label form (B) includes a first panel (C) and a coplanar panel (D) which pass between a platen of the printer in a single plane. A label (K) is releasably carried by panel (C) and is printed. As the labels pass continuously through the printer, serial printing of serial numbers and other matter is easily done. Once printed, the individual label forms (B) are removed, panel (D) folds over panel (C) by means of a hinge (F) provided by plastic film attached to a backside (34) of panel (C). A perforated marginal tab (G) separates from plastic film (E) to expose an adhesive alignment margin (26). Adhesive margin (26) adheres to the left margin of panel (C) so that plastic film (E) is evenly overlaid over label (K) as panel (D) is peeled off by pulling tab (G). Overlaid plastic film (E) and label (K) may then be removed by severing across a tear line (36) and removed from panel (C). The composite label (50 ) consisting of protective film (E) and label (K) may then be affixed to a product.

The release liner (16), a material specially treated so as to be easily removed from the adhesive, covers the adhesive (18) until it is removed. Abstract: An article having a surface comprising an olefin polymer is marked with indicia using an ink comprising a binder capable of substantially complete cure at a temperature of about 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. for less than about 10 minutes and then heated to cure the binder. The indicia are permanent, e.g. are resistant to being rubbed off and are solvent resistant. Heat-recoverable marker sleeves having such permanent indicia are particularly useful for marking wires, e.g. in aircraft harnessing.

Abstract: There is disclosed a composite web of pressure sensitive labels and method of making and using same. The composite web has a web of supporting material and a series of two-part labels releasably secured by pressure sensitive adhesive to the supporting material web. One part of the label is detachably connected to the other part by a line of partial severing. The adhesive is preferably coated onto only the one label part and the other label part is preferably free of adhesive. The label parts that are adhesive-free are detachably connected to each other by frangible portions which prevent the adhesive-free label parts from moving away from the supporting material web until the labels are delaminated from the supporting material. There is also disclosed method of making such composite webs and method of using such composite webs in label printing and applying machines.

Abstract: An undersurface imprintable label construction includes at least a translucent film having a layer of adhesive applied to a portion of its undersurface. One or more non-adhesive indicia-receiving zone(s) are on the undersurface of the film to form translucent window(s) on the film. A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer surrounds the window(s) and is releasably secured to a release liner which contains an indicia-transferring layer, such as a reverse carbon paper sheet, facing the undersurface of the film window(s). The undersurface of the film window area being disposed adjacent the indicia-transferring layer in the release liner allows visual indicia to be transferred from the indicia-transferring layer and imprinted on the undersurface of the window area(s) in response to pressure impact being applied to the upper surface of the film window area(s). The undersurface of the film may be partially masked to make the label substantially tamperproof.
