Abstract: A WTRU may receive downlink control information (DCI) indicating a start of a frame. The DCI may be received on a control channel, such as the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) from an eNB, base station, AP, or other infrastructure equipment operating in a wireless communications system. The WTRU may decode the DCI and may determine a transmit time interval (TTI) duration, which may be expressed in terms of an integer number of basic time intervals (BTIs). The WTRU may determine a downlink (DL) transmission portion and assignment and an uplink (UL) transmission portion and UL grant based on the received DCI. Additionally, the WTRU may determine the start of the UL portion based on an offset (toffset). The WTRU may receive data in a DL portion of the frame and may transmit in an UL portion of the frame based on the determined UL grant and TTI duration.

Abstract: Methods and systems for operation in a wireless communication system are provided. A first transmission may be initiated using at least a first portion of physical layer resources. A second transmission may be initiated using at least a second portion of the same physical layer resources. The first transmission may be any one of a puncturing transmission, interfering transmission, delay-sensitive transmission, or short transmission. The second transmission may be an on-going transmission or a long transmission.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein are provided for beamforming and uplink control and data transmission techniques. Such techniques enable a UE to maintain at least one beam process for operation with multiple beams and/or points. A beam process may be indicated for transmission or reception over a downlink or uplink physical channel. Power, timing, and channel state information may be specific to a beam process. A beam process may be established as part of a random access procedure in which resources may be provisioned in random access response messages. Techniques are provided to handle beam process failures, to use beam processes for mobility, and to select beams using open-loop and closed-loop selection procedures.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities (e.g. aspects of entities, interfaces and procedures in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and/or network layers L1, L2, 13) are disclosed for low latency medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) assembly in wireless systems, such as 5G flexible radio access technology (RAT) (5gFLEX). Latency may be reduced, for example, by WTRU determination of network transmission parameters and signaling prior to a transmission grant. A WTRU may receive a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), resource range, etc. prior to a grant, e.g., for use in future grants. Data blocks may be incrementally created/encoded prior to a grant. Data units may be segmented, assembled and multiplexed, for example, based on data block sizes that allow MAC and radio link control (RLC) processing prior to a grant. Flexible grant sizes may be provided for early generation of transport blocks before a grant. A minimum guaranteed transport block size (TBS) may be signaled to permit early generation of a MAC PDU. Transmission parameters may be selected prior to a grant, for example, using blind decoding or a DCI reception procedure.

Abstract: A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may be operated in a first scheduling mode for device-to-device communication. In the first scheduling mode, a network entity may schedule resources to be used by the WTRU for device-to-device communications. The WTRU may detect that a radio link failure (RLF) timer is running or has been started. The WTRU may switch from the first scheduling mode for device-to-device communication to a second scheduling mode for device-to-device communication in response to detecting that the radio link failure timer is running or has been started. In the second scheduling mode, the WTRU may select a resource from a resource pool for the WTRU to use for one or more device-to-device communications.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes a transceiver and a processor. The transceiver and the processor receive a master information block (MIB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), wherein the MIB includes an indication of control channel element (CCE) resources, transmit uplink data on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH, and receive at least one CCE in the indicated CCE resources. The at least one CCE includes multiple bits, each of which indicates whether a respective block of data is required to be retransmitted. At least the multiple bits are channel coded and have a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) attached.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for multi-carrier/multi-cell discontinuous reception (DRX)/discontinuous transmission (DTX) operations and activation/deactivation of DRX/DTX are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may configure at least one state variable for controlling DRX, DTX or both on a group of cells. The WTRU may receive an order for DRX or DTX activation or deactivation. The WTRU may determine a setting for the state variable based on the order. The WTRU may activate or deactivate DRX or DTX based on the setting for the state variable. The group of cells may include all cells within the same frequency band, all cells in a particular frequency or group of frequencies, and all secondary cells associated with a primary cell. The primary cell may be an uplink (UL) or downlink (DL) primary cell. The secondary cells may be UL or DL secondary cells. The WTRU may apply common, group-specific or cell-specific DRX monitoring.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for wireless transmission using multiple uplink carriers are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit via a primary uplink carrier data, pilot and control channels for uplink transmissions on both uplink carriers, and transmit a data channel and a pilot channel via a secondary uplink carrier. Alternatively, the WTRU may transmit via a primary uplink carrier data, pilot, and control channels for uplink transmission on the primary uplink carrier, and transmit via a secondary uplink carrier data, pilot, and control channels for uplink transmissions on the secondary uplink carrier. Each uplink carrier may be associated with at least one specific downlink carrier such that the WTRU applies control information received on a downlink carrier to uplink transmissions on an uplink carrier associated with the downlink carrier on which the WTRU receives the control information.
