Abstract:
A radio receiver having multiple AM/FM tuners. A first tuner and a second tuner may be connected with an antenna for generating a first and second composite audio output signal. A dual input digital signal processor may be connected with the first tuner and the second tuner. The first and second composite audio output signals are processed by the dual input digital signal processor to generate a first audio output signal and a second audio output signal. A first audio power amplifier may be connected with the dual input digital signal processor for receiving the first audio output signal and a second audio power amplifier may be connected with the dual input digital signal processor for receiving the second audio output signal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus prevents interference between a radio signal from RDS-TMC service provider for receiving traffic and travel data by an RDS-TMC receiver and a radio signal for transmitting audio, text, or image data from an FM modulator. The method includes the steps of starting an operation of the receiver system, stopping an operation of the FM modulator while keeping operation of the RDS-TMC receiver, examining whether an RDS-TMC signal from a service provider is available at a current location, receiving the RDS-TMC signal and retrieving RDS-TMC data therefrom, sending the retrieved RDS-TMC data to an audio/video system, and starting the operation of the FM modulator while allowing to output an FM signal from the FM modulator at allowable frequency bands which are outside of a blocked range to send data to the audio/video system.
Abstract:
The functionality associated with an RDS/RBDS messaging system is enhanced by allowing users of the system access to a secure server which gives them the ability to manage the user address space, to compose custom and preformatted messages and to access CAP files that might contain information affecting users in the area of an FM transmitter sending alert messages. The alert messages are sent to the RDS/RBDS encoder as ODA data groups using a developed protocol. Standard alert radios are modified to utilize the functionality of the system. The system will also send back up alerts to a users cellular telephone and to specified email, SMS and text messaging destinations.
Abstract:
A system for providing enhanced radio content to a remote user is disclosed. The system includes at least one input that receives non-radio input; and, at least one output interconnected to the at least one input via a hub, wherein the at least one output receives the enhanced radio content via the hub after at least one manipulation of the non-radio input by the hub to form the enhanced radio content, wherein the at least one manipulation is in accordance with the at least one non-radio input.
Abstract:
Provided are apparatuses and methods for transmitting radiotext plus data (e.g., RT+ data) to a mobile terminal. In one example, radiotext plus data is received and transmitted to the mobile terminal in a Digital Video Broadcast—Handheld (DVB-H) data stream. Program or service data corresponding to a program may be endoded on IP and transmitted in audio/video data in a DVB-H data stream and RT+ data corresponding to the program may be transmitted on Internet Protocol (IP). For example, the RT+ data may be converted to Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) on a RTP timed text protocol. In another example, a content stream may be received and divided into a program data stream and a corresponding RT+ data stream. The RT+ data stream may be converted to RTP and synchronized with the program data on audio/video data in a DVB-H data stream. The RT+ data may be delivered to a mobile terminal.
Abstract:
A technique of providing advertisements in a traffic message is provided that obtains (704) traffic data having a traffic condition of a location description on a road network. A location reference code associated with the location description assigned by a traffic message supplier and an advertising reference code associated with the location reference code are assessed (706), (714), followed by a determination (716) as to whether the advertising reference code is present. If so, a traffic message having the location reference code and the advertising reference code is generated (710).
Abstract:
A method and a device for a receiver for electromagnetic waves having at least two antennas are described; using this method and this device it is possible to effectively suppress multipath interference, while a portion of the antenna signals may also be utilized for other purposes at least temporarily, e.g., to allow better utilization of the possibilities of RDS activities. To do so, a first antenna signal (1) is used as the basis for generating a playback signal (23) when the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) is above a defined threshold for undisturbed reception—case 1. In this case 1, the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) is determined. If the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) falls below this threshold—case 2—then a new signal y generated from at least two antenna signals (1, 2) is used as the basis for generating the playback signal (23). In case 2, the signal quality of new generated signal y and the signal quality of at least one antenna signal (2) are determined. New generated signal y is used as the basis for generating the playback signal (23) as long as the signal quality determined for the one antenna signal (2) is below this threshold and is evaluated as being inferior to the signal quality of the new generated signal y.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a combined receiver and power adapter. The adapter generally includes a coupling element operable to couple with a power source, a receiver operable to wirelessly receive information, a housing operable to house the coupling element and the receiver, and a connection element operable to couple the coupling element and the receiver with an electronic device. Coupling of the connection element with the electronic device enables the adapter to provide power and/or received information to the electronic device. Such a configuration enables the electronic device to be provided with power and information without requiring the use of a plurality of cables or numerous external housings.
Abstract:
A method and system for an RDS decoder for single chip integrated Bluetooth and FM Transceiver and baseband processor are provided. The RDS decoder may have two phases, an acquisition phase and a decoding phase. During an acquisition phase, synchronization of a bit stream may be established based on detecting at least a portion of a plurality of received radio data service (RDS) data blocks. The synchronized bit stream may then be decoded during the decoding phase. If during decoding, at least a portion of the bit stream is out of synchronization, the bit stream may be synchronized without returning to the acquisition phase.
Abstract:
A method for radio transmission of audio data from an audio player device for receipt by an RDS capable FM radio receiver, comprising scanning an FM frequency range to detect available radio frequencies on which no broadcast transmissions or interfering signals are currently received; storing detected available frequencies; selecting one of the stored frequencies; receiving audio data from the player; modulating received audio data with FM; and transmitting modulated audio data on the selected frequency. A corresponding electronic device comprises a receiver for scanning an FM frequency range to detect the above-mentioned type of available radio frequencies; a memory device for storing same; a controller for selecting one of the stored frequencies; an audio input interface for receiving audio data from the player; and a transmitter for modulating received audio data with FM and transmitting modulated audio data on a frequency selected by the controller.
