Abstract: Logic may receive an initial communication from a user device, the initial communication comprising capabilities. Logic may determine, based on an indication of a capability to support new radio frequency layers from the capabilities for the user device, a measurement gap configuration for the new radio frequency layers and a measurement gap configuration for a channel state information reference signal. Logic may send a frame with a preamble to a physical layer comprising the measurement gap configuration. Logic may send an initial communication to a physical layer, wherein the initial communication comprises capabilities for a user device. Logic may decode downlink data with a measurement gap configuration. And logic may parse the measurement gap configuration to determine at least one measurement gap identification and at least one offset for the new radio frequency layers and a channel state information reference signal.

The apparatus also includes one or more processors configured to process a received portion of the plurality of reference signals received from the second cellular communication device through at least a portion of the plurality of communication beams, normalize ToAs of one or more reference signals of the received portion of the plurality of reference signals to a time period unit; and identify which of the plurality of communication beams correspond to the one or more reference signals using the reference signal data.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for operating transceiver circuitry to communicate signals on various frequency ranges based on primary cell and/or secondary cell assignments. A controller associated with the transceiver circuitry may operate a receiver to receive a handover initiation packet using a first frequency range as a primary cell from a base station. The controller may adjust the receiver and a transmitter to use a second frequency range as the primary cell, to adjust the receiver and the transmitter to detach from the first frequency range as the primary cell, and to reset information corresponding to the first frequency range to enable attachment of the first frequency range to a secondary cell.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to decode measurement gap patterns received from a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) is disclosed. The UE can decode a per-frequency range (per-FR) measurement gap pattern received from the gNB in a New Radio (NR) system. The per-FR measurement gap pattern can indicate a measurement gap partem for monitoring selected frequency layers within a frequency range at the UE. The UE can process one or more measurements for the selected frequency layers within the frequency range. The one or more measurements for the selected frequency layers can be measured in accordance with the per-FR measurement gap pattern. The UE can encode the one or more measurements for the selected frequency layers for reporting to the gNB.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive configuration information to configure the UE with a plurality of channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource sets. One of the CSI-RS resource sets may be allocated for beam failure detection (BFD). The UE may determine, based on a sub-carrier spacing (SCS) of a bandwidth part (BWP), a frequency density of the CSI-RS resources in the BWP in terms of a number of resource elements (REs) per resource block (RB). The UE may determine, based on the frequency density of the CSI-RS resources, an evaluation period for CSI-RS based BFD, wherein the evaluation period is longer for higher frequency densities and the evaluation period is shorter for lower frequency densities.
