Abstract:
An image processing device stores a main program that controls basic operations that the device conducts as a copying machine, a printer, a facsimile machine, etc., as well as a sub program that controls additional operations that the device conducts as a net work scanner. When a user purchases an additional function pack and sends a production number of the image processing device and ID information of the pack to a managing device, the managing device returns a releasing key produced by encoding the production number. A control section of the device decodes the releasing key, and permits the foregoing access if the production number obtained by the decoding matches that stored in the memory section. Therefore, even after shipment, extension of functions can be smoothly implemented at lower costs without replacement of boards or memories. Thus, an image processing device realized with a digital complex machine is arranged so that extension of functions after shipment can be smoothly implemented at lower costs.
Abstract:
A scanner is connected to a host computer. A scanner control routine is installed onto the host computer and used to generate and forward control signals to the scanner or multi-function device. Using the scanner control system, manager or routine, one or more scanned image destinations are defined and one or more scanning parameters are defined that are particularly appropriate for each such scanned image destination. Each scanned image destination is associated with one of a number of pre-named scanner destinations that can be selected using the scanner. These pre-named destinations usually have generic or otherwise meaningless names that are not associated with any particular destination or location. The user uses the control panel of the scanner or multi-function device to select one of the pre-named destinations. The scanner or multi-function device forwards this selected destination to the host computer. The scanner control system, manager or routine on the host computer converts the selected destination to the actual destination or location previously associated with that selected destination. The scanner control system, manager or routine then causes the host computer to “pull” a scanned image from the scanner or multi-function device based on the scanner parameters previously defined for the actual destination or location corresponding to the selected pre-named destination.
Abstract:
In an image scanning system which can scan an image in a plurality of scanning modes, and has a memory for storing a correction data file which has correction data for each of the plurality of scan modes, correction data corresponding to a scan mode of a given image scan operation is read out from the memory upon scanning an image, and an image scan is executed using the readout correction data. If correction data corresponding to the scan mode of that image scan operation is not stored in the memory, correction data corresponding to the scan mode is generated, and is stored in the memory.
Abstract:
A method for performing a camera function in a mobile communication terminal. When the mobile communication terminal is switched to a camera mode in a state in which it is connected to an earphone with a predetermined key for performing call connection and termination functions, the predetermined key of the earphone is configured as a shutter key for capturing an image. When a signal of the predetermined key processed as the shutter key is input from the earphone, the image is captured. A clearer image can be captured without blur when the call connection and termination key serves as the shutter key in an earphone or a wireless headset connected to the mobile communication terminal, rather than the shutter key provided in the conventional mobile communication terminal.
Abstract:
When reading image data stored on a detachable storage medium such as a magneto-optical disk and outputting the data using an image outputting device, data regarding modes in which the image data is to be output is stored in advance on a storage medium by an apparatus such as a personal computer, for example, which is different from the image outputting device. By loading the storage medium in the image outputting apparatus, the image data is read out and output in accordance with the stored output mode data, whereby it is possible to prevent the image outputting apparatus from being monopolized for a long period of time and to output data easily in a desired output mode.
Abstract:
A document processing system may include a document processing device for performing print jobs and copy jobs, a print server for sending print jobs to the document processing device, and a copy station connected to the document processing device and the print server for allowing a user to enable the document processing device to perform a copy job. Furthermore, the copy station may prevent the print server from sending print jobs to the document processing device while the document processing device is enabled for performing a copy job. Additionally, the copy station may also prevent a user from enabling the document processing device to perform a copy job while the document processing device is performing a print job.
Abstract:
An image formation apparatus receives, from a host computer, job data including image-formation data and a procedure for predetermined processing, and a computer controls image formation (printing) in accordance with the received procedure. Thereby, the image formation apparatus communicates with an external unit in accordance with the procedure, and based on a result of the communication, printing can be controlled, and by changing the content of the procedure, a control procedure for image formation can flexibly be changed. This enables detailed control of outputting, such as the restriction of the use of a printer, and the restriction of the use a printer in accordance with a user or the content of a document to be output.
Abstract:
A remote control system in which an equipment and a remote controller are connected with each other through a network, wherein the remote controller includes: a first display section which displays an operation screen sent from the equipment, an input section which sets an operation guide position, and a first controlling section which displays the operation screen on the first display section and sends operation guide position information corresponding to the operation guide position to the image forming apparatus, and wherein the equipment comprises: a second display section which displays a function item of the equipment, and a second controlling section which executes a server to send the operation screen displayed on the first display section to the remote controller and displays a guidance to guide an operation of the equipment on the second display section based on the operation guide position information.
Abstract:
An image forming system having a scanned-image preview function and a method thereof. The image forming system includes an image input device to scan one or more images, and a terminal device to receive image data of the one or more images scanned by the image input device and to sequentially display the one or more scanned images on a screen at a set time interval. Accordingly, the image forming system can sequentially display a plurality of images at a set time interval in a limited display space.
Abstract:
A recording apparatus includes a communications device which can receive from another communications apparatus by wireless an image-capturing condition of restricting an image-capturing process or a sound recording condition of restricting a sound recording process, and a device which performs an image-capturing or sound recording process according to the received image-capturing condition or sound recording condition. Thus, a user can automatically set a recording function of a recording apparatus in a restricted state without special care in a position where image-capturing, sound recording, etc. are prohibited, thereby recording on an allowed condition. Since it further includes a communications device which can receive by wireless from another communications apparatus a reproducing condition of restricting a reproducing function of an image, and a reproducing device which reproduces an image according to the received reproducing condition, an available function can be used by easily specifying a user of the communications apparatus.
