Abstract: In order to overcome problems that a UE may face in determining CORESETs and beams for communication with the base station during a COT, a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are provided for a base station to indicate to the UE which CORESET(s), QCL relationships, UL resources, and/or spatial relationships are selected for a COT. A UE receives an indication of a set of CORESETs selected from a plurality of CORESETs or a set of QCL relationships selected from a plurality of QCL relationships. The UE determines the set of CORESETs from the plurality of CORESETs or the set of QCL relationships from the plurality of QCL relationships based on the indication received. A UE receives an indication of a set of UL resources or a set of spatial relations. The UE determines the set of UL resources or the set of spatial relations based on the indication received.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless communications systems may support beamformed transmissions between devices (e.g., to improve coverage range). The beamformed transmissions may depend on discovery and maintenance of receive and transmit beams over which a given device may communicate with another device. Various receive and transmit beams for a given device may be compared using reference signals. As the number of devices attempting to access a cell increases, the number of reference signals to be transmitted may scale proportionally. Large numbers of reference signals may flood time-frequency resources of the system and/or require excessive processing at a mobile device. Scrambling sequences for reference signals may be employed to improve efficiency of resource usage. In aspects, the scrambling sequences may be implicitly determined (e.g., based on resources over which the access request was transmitted). Such an implicit association may reduce the need for additional signaling.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless communications systems may support uplink random access channel (RACH) transmissions on multiple beams and over multiple component carriers (CCs). A wireless device may transmit a random access preamble to a base station in a first RACH transmission, which may indicate a set of CCs over which the base station may respond with a random access response (RAR) in a second RACH transmission. The second RACH transmission may then include an indication for which CCs the wireless device may use for a subsequent RACH transmission (e.g., a RACH message 3). The wireless device may also indicate a beam index and/or time-frequency resources associated with beams and/or CCs used for such cell acquisition transmissions. In other examples, the base station may indicate resources (e.g., via a handover command or RACH command) for wireless device scheduling request and/or beam-failure recovery request transmission.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, via a first carrier, an indication of an offset for scheduling a reference signal on a second carrier, wherein the offset indicates a duration between downlink control information (DCI), that schedules the reference signal, and the reference signal; determine a first numerology of the first carrier and a second numerology of the second carrier; and determine a time offset for the reference signal based at least in part on the offset and at least one of the first numerology, the second numerology, or both the first numerology and the second numerology. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Signaling of alternative modulation coding schemes

Abstract: Wireless devices may employ techniques for indicating alternative modulation coding schemes (MCSs) (e.g., MCS values or MCS indices not associated with a default list or default MCS table). That is, communications (e.g., such as physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmissions carrying downlink control information (DCI), physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions carrying uplink grants, etc.) may include information (e.g., in MCS fields and reserved fields) that indicate alternative MCSs for subsequent communications. For example, random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI) scrambled DCI, random access response (RAR) messages, etc., may indicate an alternative MCS for subsequent messages in a random access procedure (e.g., for a RAR, an RRC connection request, etc.). The alternative MCS may be conveyed by indicating information such as MCS scaling factors, alternative MCS table IDs, MCS indices associated with the alternative MCS table, or some combination thereof.
