    Abstract: A solar cell having a transparent conducting layer disposed upon a substrate, an electron transporting layer (ETL) disposed upon the transparent conducting layer, a perovskite layer disposed upon the ETL layer, an inorganic dichalcogenide material disposed upon the perovskite layer, and a conducting material disposed upon the dichalcogenide material, the dichalcogenide material and the conducting material together comprising a dichalcogenide composite electrode. In another embodiment, the solar cell has a first conducting material disposed upon a substrate, an inorganic dichalcogenide material disposed upon the first conducting material forming a dichalcogenide composite electrode, a perovskite layer disposed upon the dichalcogenide composite electrode, an ETL disposed upon the perovskite layer, and a second conducting material disposed upon the ETL.

    Abstract: A sorbent-based oil skimmer is configured to collect oil from an oil layer and passively deposit the oil in an encasing, where the oil can be continuously or periodically removed. The oil skimmer includes an encasing and a sponge that is partially enclosed within the encasing. The sponge has a top sheet in contact with the oil layer and a shell connected to the top sheet, where the shell extends into the encasing. Oil collected by the top sheet is conveyed through the shell, where it is deposited into the encasing under the force of gravity. In some applications, the sponge is manufactured from a silicone-based polymer that has been impregnated with carbonaceous material. The skimmer may optionally include counterweights, ballast tanks, buoyancy adjustment systems and propulsion modules.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprises: a memory; and a processor coupled to the memory and configured to: build a prediction model that predicts next cells of UEs in a future time step of a mobile network; map the next cells to future user locations; determine future loads of BSs in the mobile network based on the future user locations; determine an optimization of the mobile network using the future loads; and implement the optimization by instructing the BSs to adjust a parameter in the future time step.

    Abstract: Benzylamino-oxoethyl benzamide compounds for use in treating diseases and conditions associated with abnormal cell function related to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. For example, the compounds can be used as suppressors of ER stress-induced pancreatic β-cell dysfunction and death, for example in the treatment of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The compounds can also be used in treatments for chronic heart disease, neurodegenerative diseases, retinal degeneration, and other metabolic disorders associated with ER stress.
