Abstract:
A method of repairing a damaged rotor comprising: (a) preparing a locally damaged portion of the rotor; (b) cold spraying alloy powder particles onto the locally damaged portion; (c) controlling the cold spraying in step (b) to restore the locally damaged portion to form a repaired portion having substantially the same properties and shape as originally manufactured; and (d) heat treating at least the repaired portion.
Abstract:
A cold spray coating system comprising, a cold spray coating gun having a nozzle member operative to emit a stream of gas and granules of a coating material from a nozzle opening defined by the nozzle member such that the granules of the coating material impact and bond with a first region of a substrate, and a heat source member operative heat the first region of the substrate.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for joining two or more parts together via cold spraying. In one embodiment, a first part and second part may be aligned together to create a joint. The parts are joined by cold spraying a material on the first metal part and the second metal part to create a bond at the joint. A system is disclosed that includes a controller configured to control a cold spray gun to create a bond between a first metal part and second metal part
Abstract:
The article comprises a substrate having a first surface, a plurality of elements extending from the first surface, and a protective coating disposed between at least a portion of the plurality of elements, on at least a portion of the plurality of elements, or both. The plurality of elements are integral with the substrate. A method for applying a protective coating onto an article is also provided.
