    摘要: A plasma display panel. A first substrate and a second substrate are provided opposing one another with a predetermined gap therebetween. Address electrodes are formed on the second substrate. Barrier ribs are mounted between the first substrate and the second substrate, the barrier ribs defining a plurality of discharge cells and a plurality of non-discharge regions. Phosphor layers are formed within each of the discharge cells. Discharge sustain electrodes are formed on the first substrate. The non-discharge regions are formed in areas encompassed by discharge cell abscissas and ordinates that pass through centers of each of the discharge cells. Also, external light absorbing members are formed between the second substrate and the barrier ribs layer at areas corresponding to locations of the non-discharge regions.

    摘要: A plasma display panel includes a first substrate, on which discharge sustain electrodes are formed, and an opposing second substrate, on which address electrodes are aligned in a first direction. Barrier ribs between the substrates define a plurality of discharge cells within which phosphor layers are formed. The display electrodes have bus electrodes, forming a corresponding pair within each of the discharge cells, and extension electrodes, extending from the bus electrodes into each of the discharge cells to form an opposing pair. A pair of the display electrodes corresponding to each of the discharge cells forms a first gap and a second gap having different distances from each other between the opposing extension electrodes, and forms a third gap between the bus electrodes. The second gap is longer than the first gap, and the third gap is longer than the second gap.

    摘要: A plasma display panel where the address electrodes are designed to have perforated portions in the vicinity of display electrodes to prevent the build up of unwanted wall charges in the vicinity of the display electrodes to thus prevent mis-discharge in the plasma display panel. The perforations can be quadrilateral in shape, and can be made to different sizes depending on the color of the phosphor in the vicinity of the perforation. As a result, drive voltage margin quality between the different colors can be improved to produce a more reliable display.

    摘要: A method for driving a surface discharge type plasma display panel (PDP) having a matrix display form is provided. The surface discharge type PDP is driven by a progressive driving method such that non-discharge regions are removed by combining common and scanning electrodes traversing neighboring discharge cells or two neighboring scanning electrodes into one. While the scanning electrodes traversing neighboring discharge cells are reduced to one to be used in common, sequential scanning is allowed. Thus, the number of driver circuits can be reduced. Also, since the distance between electrodes of the respective lines can be reduced, a high-precision PDP can be achieved by reducing a line pitch. Also, the ratio of the area occupied by display electrodes in a unit emission region is increased and the range in which a surface discharge occurs is extended, thereby improving the luminance.
