Abstract: A method for measuring interfacial stress and residual stress in multilayer thin films coated on a substrate is disclosed. First of all, a residual stress measurement process is applied to each thin film of a multi-layered structure. Subsequently, after two kinds of interfacial stress (FHL, FLH) are calculated, a mathematical formula for estimating at least one adjusting parameter is derived based on the two interfacial stresses. As a result, a modified Ennos formula is obtained by involving the adjusting parameters into the Ennos formula, such that a residual stress in the multi-layered structure (i.e., multilayer thin films) is therefore calculated by using the modified Ennos formula.

Abstract: A nanoparticle capable of loading and releasing active constituents includes many mesopores with a large pore size and can be produced by one-step synthesis. The nanoparticle has a BET surface area over 100 m2/g and an average pore size over 1 nm that can load and release a large amount of active constituents quickly to improve the performance and applicability of related slow release carriers. In addition to its application in the field of drug-loaded contact lenses, the properties of such nanoparticle can be applied for releasing other active constituents or drugs, and used for the treatment of human body or even for the release of environmental active constituents.

Abstract: A monopolar physiological signal detection device and a method of operating the monopolar physiological signal detection device are provided. With a differential amplifier, a delay circuit, a driven-body circuit, and a band-pass filter, the monopolar physiological signal detection device can reduce the common-mode interference induced by supply mains. Moreover, the monopolar physiological signal detection device employs a single electrode to generate electric potentials with different time factors from the same skin surface. Accordingly, consecutive heartbeat related information of a user can be collected even when the user is under natural and comfortable postures.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a microfluidic-based analyzer, including a drive module and a microfluidic disc. On the microfluidic disk, a capillary is connected between a mixing chamber and a waste chamber. More particularly, the capillary is connected to the mixing chamber through a first access on the first radius of the microfluidic disc, and the capillary is connected to the waste chamber through a second access on the second radius of the microfluidic disk. Specifically, a turn of the capillary is disposed between the first access and the second access, in which a folding is configured on a third radius of the microfluidic disc. Overall, the aforementioned microfluidic-based analyzer is able to be operated in different rotational speeds and is capable of evacuating the mixing chamber and enhancing the washing efficiency.
