Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for allocating a safety channel in a wireless communication system which divides a full frequency band into a plurality of subcarrier bands and includes subchannels, each of which is a set of a predetermined number of subbands, each of which is a set of a predetermined number of contiguous subcarriers, where the subchannels include a safety subchannel allocated to particular subscriber stations (SSs), which is unused in a neighbor base station. The method comprises the steps of: transmitting, by the SS, its channel quality information to the base station (BS) when a channel quality of a subchannel allocated to the SS is less than to predetermined reference channel quality; and allocating a safety subchannel to the SS, by the BS upon receiving the channel quality information indicating that the channel quality of the subchannel is less than to the reference channel quality.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting burst allocation information by a base station in a broadband wireless communication system in which a transmitted frame includes symbols, and orthogonal subcarriers in a frequency axis constitute each of the symbols based on a predetermined time unit. The method includes the steps of generating a reduced connection identifier (CID) by reducing a basic CID of a mobile terminal connected to the base station when the basic CID exists within a preset range, and inserting an MAP, which includes an enabled field representing the reduced CID and one of use and non-use of the reduced CID, into the frame, and transmitting the frame to the mobile terminal.
Abstract:
A method for allocating resources by a Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes determining use/nonuse of each of a plurality of Resource Blocks (RBs), which are allocated using a persistent allocation scheme, and transmitting resource allocation information indicating use/nonuse of each of the plurality of RBs to a plurality of Mobile Stations (MSs) according to a result of the determination.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for providing a handover using an Mobile Station IDentifier (MS ID) in a wireless communication system are provided. In the method, at least one Base Station (BS) ID index assigned to a serving base station by at least one neighbor base station is confirmed. A target base station for a handover is confirmed. A temporary MS ID is formed using a BS ID index assigned to the serving base station by the target base station, and an MS ID index assigned to the mobile station by the serving base station. A network re-entry procedure with the target base station is performed using the temporary MS ID. Communication with the serving base station is performed until the network re-entry procedure with the target base station is completed.
Abstract:
A method of operating a Base Station (BS) in a broadband wireless communication system to resume an extended real-time Polling Service (ertPS) is provided. The method of operating the BS includes detecting a codeword received through a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) channel, and upon receiving a CQI CHannel (CQICH) codeword for requesting resumption of an extended real-time Polling Service (ertPS) connection from a Mobile Station (MS), allocating to the MS an uplink resource corresponding to the largest maximum sustainable traffic rate of at least one ertPS connec established to the MS.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving a connection identification (CID) in a communication system is provided. Upon detecting a need for its handover, a mobile station (MS) transmits a handover request message to a first base station (BS) in communication with the MS. Upon receiving the handover request message, the first BS transmits at least one CID for connection setup to a second BS to which the MS will perform handover, to the MS along with a handover response message in response to the handover request message. The MS receives the CID through the handover response message.
Abstract:
A method for controlling a sleep-mode operation in a communication system is provided, in which a Mobile Station (MS) transitions to an awake state in a listening interval of the sleep mode, performs one of a first operation, a second operation, and a third operation in the awake state, and transitions to a sleep state if the MS determines that there is no data to transmit to a BS and no data to receive from the Base Station (BS) after the one operation is performed. The first operation is for receiving data from the BS, the second operation is for transmitting data to the BS, and the third operation is receiving data from the BS and transmitting data to the BS.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for seamlessly providing voice and data services to a user through an access terminal in a mobile communication system including a heterogeneous service & mobility gateway (HSMG) for an interworking service between a circuit network and a packet network, and various access networks overlapping each other. The access terminal notifies the HSMG that a voice call is received, if the access terminal that accessed a packet network receives a voice call. The HSMG sends a direction request to a circuit network upon receiving the notification indicating that the voice call is received. The access terminal directs to the circuit network and registers a new location upon receiving the direction request. The HSMG sets up an incoming voice call to the access terminal after the registration of a new location.
Abstract:
A method for allocating a band Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) channel in a wireless communication system that divides a full frequency band into a plurality of subcarrier bands and includes subchannels, each of which is a set of a predetermined number of neighbor subcarrier bands. Upon recognizing a need for a band AMC channel, a subscriber station (SS) sends a request for allocation of the band AMC channel to a base station (BS). Upon receiving the band AMC channel allocation request, the BS determines if it can allocate the band AMC channel requested by the SS, considering a resource situation of the BS, and transmits information on the determination to the SS.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and system for forming and transmitting to an MS a broadcast message for notifying information of neighbor BSs in a BWA communication system. The method includes scanning neighbor base stations adjacent to the serving base station, collecting information of the scanned neighbor base stations, comparing a size of the information of the scanned neighbor base stations with a size of a frame for carrying the information of the neighbor base stations constructing at least one broadcast message that includes the information of the neighbor base stations according to a result of the comparison, setting up fields of the constructed broadcast message according to information included in the constructed broadcast message and broadcasting the broadcast message including the setup fields.
