    摘要: A process for fabricating a mold for an aspherical microlens having a desired aspherical and smooth surface, the lens having an effective diameter of 1 mm or smaller and a thickness of 0.5 mm or greater. A double-layer mask layer is formed on a single crystal silicon substrate, and anisotropic etching and isotropic etching are carried out using a first mask layer so as to form a concave portion that is a little smaller than the size of a desired microlens mold. Isotropic etching is then carried out using a second mask layer so as to enlarge the concave portion, thereby obtaining a microlens mold having desired dimensions.

    摘要: Provided is a magnetic head slider apparatus that can minimize a change in a roll angle caused by an impact force even with a submount mounted on a side surface thereof and achieve steady flying with the roll angle minimized. A dimple position and a pressure center position of a lifting force are moved in a slider width direction to thereby align a center of mass of a slider having a submount including a laser diode mounted on a side surface thereof, the dimple position, and the pressure center position of the lifting force with each other. This provides a magnetic head slider and a suspension thereof, and a magnetic disk drive apparatus offering higher recording density and higher reliability.

At this time, at least parts of the first and second adhesives are applied to a position opposed to the semiconductor laser with an intermediation of the submount. The first adhesive having a higher Young's modulus than that of the second adhesive is applied onto an inflow end side of the slider including a solder connection portion, the second adhesive being applied onto an outflow end side of the slider.

    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a technique for projecting both a write element portion in writing and a read element portion in reading, and controlling a projecting distance of each write element and read element. According to one embodiment, a light absorbing member and a thermally expanding member are formed near a read element, and light is irradiated to the light absorbing member, thereby a read element is projected. Alternatively, light absorbing members, which absorb light having different wavelengths from each other, and thermally expanding members are formed near a write element and near the read element respectively, and a wavelength or intensity of light to be irradiated is changed, thereby a projecting distance of each of the write element and the read element is individually optionally controlled.

    摘要: When a piezoelectric element is deformed in the direction of decreasing a flying height, a pressure at a trailing pad increases, and the flying height of a magnetic head is not efficiently decreased and may be increased conversely in some occasions.A position of contact between a suspension and a dimple is set toward a leading edge with respect to a piezoelectric element, and a pad for generating a positive pressure is disposed between the dimple and the piezoelectric element in addition to a trailing pad. Fluctuations of a positive pressure generated toward the leading edge with respect to the dimple are thus suppressed when the piezoelectric element is deformed.
