摘要: A turning toolholder includes a shank, a club head, and a clamp and a clamp screw for clamping a cutting insert. The club head includes a clamp coolant supply hole in fluid communication, a flank coolant supply hole and an auxiliary rake coolant supply hole, all in fluid communication with the main coolant supply hole. Coolant is supplied through a rake coolant exit opening formed in the forward nose portion of the clamp to direct coolant to the top rake surface of the cutting insert, and coolant is supplied through a flank coolant exit opening located below the insert-receiving pocket to provide coolant to the side flank surfaces of the cutting insert. In addition, an auxiliary rake coolant supply housing formed on a top surface of the club head supplies additional coolant to the top rake surface of the cutting insert during high heat applications.

摘要: A rotary cutting tool includes a tool body including a chip flute portion having a plurality of helical chip flutes separated by lobes. In one aspect, a tunable vibration absorber assembly is disposed within a cavity formed in the chip flute portion. In another aspect, the tunable vibration absorber assembly is disposed within a cavity of a replaceable cutting head. In each aspect, the tunable vibration absorber assembly includes at least two one or more tunable absorber masses, a resilient material between the one or more absorber masses and the cavity, and one or more connecting members for preventing relative angular displacement of the one or more tunable absorber masses. The at least two one or more tunable absorber masses are suspended only by the resilient material, thereby enabling the tunable vibration absorber assembly to be tuned to a desired frequency for suppressing torsional vibration of the rotary cutting tool during a cutting operation.

摘要: A rotary cutting tool includes a shank portion, a cutting portion, and a cutting tip. The cutting portion includes a plurality of blades and a plurality of flutes. Each blade includes a leading face, a trailing face, and a land surface extending between the leading face and the trailing face. The cutting end includes an end cutting edge having a first end face cutting edge portion formed with a positive, neutral or negative radial angle, a positive dish angle and a negative axial rake angle, and second end face cutting edge portion formed with a highly positive radial angle, a positive dish angle and a negative axial rake angle. The highly positive radial angle of the second end face cutting edge portion enables the rotary cutting tool to perform a ramp operation at very large ramp angles of between about 15-45 degrees.

摘要: A rotary cutting tool includes a tool shank, a replaceable cutting head mounted on the tool shank, a coupling pin, and an actuation member. In one embodiment, the coupling pin has a cylindrical portion with a reduced-diameter portion defined by a pair of angled side walls separated by a bottom surface for cooperating with a non-threaded portion at one end of the actuation member. In another embodiment, the coupling pin has a cylindrical portion with a notch with a pair of side walls for cooperating with a frustoconical member at one end of the actuation member. When assembled, a pair of V-shaped contact surfaces on the cutting head engage a pair of oppositely facing V-shaped contact surfaces on the tool shank to provide stability against the momentum created by cutting forces in two different directions and securely hold the cutting head in place during machining operations.
