Abstract: A disposable screen-printed microchip based on an organic membrane sensitive layer is presented. The microchip is highly responsive for the determination of Lead(II). The microchip is composed of a composite sensitive material which comprises carbon nano-tubes “CNTs” and titanium (IV) oxide nano-particles embedded in a PVC membrane which was deposited on the surface of a plastic screen printed micro-electrode using a new methodology. The prepared disposable microchip provides a linear response for Pb2+ ions covering the concentration range of 1×10−6 to 1×10−1 mole L−1 with high sensitivity (49 mV), a long life span (>4 months) and short response time (10 s). The merits offered by the micro-sensor or microchip include small size, simple fabrication, mass production, integration feasibility and cost effectiveness and automation.

Abstract: Grid patterns for concentrator solar cells that increase power output are provided. Abstract: A disposable colony spotting chamber for generation of single cell microbial colonies is provided. The disposable colony spotting chamber includes an entry orifice through which clinical sample can be fed into the colony spotting chamber. The entry orifice opens into a network of micron sized microfluidics chambers which are interconnected by microfabricated channels. The microfluidics chambers and microfabricated channels ensure that the clinical sample is distributed equally amongst the microfluidics chambers. The disposable colony spotting chamber further includes a sample release button that is when pressed releases the clinical sample on a petri dish from microfluidics chambers.

Abstract: Systems and methods of facial recognition of non-occluded or non-obstructed faces is provided. The method includes generating a skin mask based on an occluded image of an individual and removing occluded areas for the occluded image using the skin mask so that skin areas remain. The method further includes generating a correlation filter based on the occluded image. The method further includes applying the skin mask and correlation filter to a non-occluded input image of an individual. The method further includes generating a correlation output based on applying the skin mask and correlation filter to the non-occluded input image. The correlation output may indicate a likelihood that the second individual in the non-occluded input image is of the first individual in the occluded image.

Abstract: Super-resolution of dynamic scenes using sampling rate diversity, processes and systems thereof are provided. The method implementing the processes includes: in a first stage, super-resolving secondary low-resolution (LR) images using a set of primary LR images to create LR dictionaries to represent polyphase components (PPCs) of high resolution (HR) patches of images; and, in a second stage, reverting to a single frame super-resolution (SR) applied to each frame which comprises an entire image, using the HR dictionaries extracted from the super-resolved sequence obtain in the first stage.

Abstract: Alumina/NiO/ZnO and Alumina/ZnO are synthesized via a novel modified hydrothermal method and investigated for the desulfurization activities. Sulfur compounds such as thiophene, benzothiophene (BT) and dibenzothiophene (DBT) are tested for their removal from model diesel fuel. The prepared composite materials were examined by the means of N2-adsorption, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for embedding a watermark in a digital image and recovering the watermark from the digital image. The method includes representing the plurality of binary bits in the watermark using a plurality of symbols, wherein each symbol of the plurality of symbols represents at least two binary bits. The plurality of symbols are then transformed into a plurality of pseudo noise (PN) sequences, wherein a symbol transformed into a PN sequence represents one or more PN sequence vectors from a set of PN sequence vectors. Once the transformation is done, the plurality of PN sequences are embedded in the digital image to generate a watermarked image. During recovery, the watermark is recovered from the watermarked image by identifying the plurality of PN sequences in the watermarked image for recovering the corresponding plurality of symbols associated with the watermark.
