Abstract:
A passenger protection system to be mounted to a vehicle includes an airbag having a first airbag section for constraining a driving passenger by being deployed and inflated between the driving passenger and a steering wheel, and a second airbag section that is deployed and inflated on the front side of the vehicle with respect to the steering wheel. Pressure from the first airbag section is received by the steering wheel, and pressure from the second airbag section is received by a front windshield glass and an interior panel positioned on the front side of the vehicle with respect to the steering wheel when the airbag is deployed and inflated. The system provides improved protection for a driving passenger using an airbag in the event of a vehicle accident.
Abstract:
An airbag includes, when expanded, a center portion of an occupant-side front panel that is stretched by tethers toward a rear side of the airbag. The concave portion formed at the center portion of the front panel caves to the rear side of the airbag from a peripheral portion of the front panel. A covering lid panel traverses the concave portion. The airbag efficiently protects an occupant, even though the concave portion caves away from the occupant. Because the airbag has a volume that is smaller to the extent of the concave portion, the airbag immediately expands even when a gas generator with relatively low output is used.
Abstract:
An airbag has a first inner panel and a second inner panel arranged substantially in a concentric relation with a front panel and a rear panel in an interior of an airbag, and outer peripheral edge portions are stitched to each other by a high-strength seam. A center portion of the first inner panel is stitched to a center portion of the front panel by a seam. A center portion of the second inner panel is connected to a center portion of the rear panel by a retaining ring. The second inner panel is formed with a communication port between a first chamber and a second chamber. Midsections of the inner panels between the outer peripheral edge portions and the center portions are connected by a tear seam. The tear seam is adapted to be broken when the pressure in the first chamber reaches a predetermined pressure.
Abstract:
An image display device where electrical potential is provided by time divisons from one display signal line to two or more pixels situated adjacent to one another in an LCD matrix. During one horizontal scanning period an electric potential from the display signal line is written to the first and second pixel electrode during a time period TA. During a time period TB an electric potential, which may be different from the electric potential provided in time period TA, is written to the second pixel electrode. Time period TA is adjusted to be longer than time period TB.
Abstract:
A knee bag to be inflated upwardly from below in front of legs of a vehicle occupant includes an upper part constituting a constant width portion having a substantially constant lateral width, and a lower part below the constant width portion having a lateral width decreasing toward a lower end. Tethers extending laterally are provided vertically in the knee bag in multistage, and an upper tether has a longer lateral length. Vent spaces are formed between respective lateral ends of the tethers and lateral edges of the knee bag. The uppermost tether is located in the vicinity of or above a boundary between the constant width portion and a narrow width portion.
Abstract:
An airbag is formed of an airbag body having a front surface facing a passenger and a rear surface with a gas inlet opening, a flow adjustment member disposed in the airbag body on a side of the rear surface and having an outlet port for discharging gas toward an outer periphery of the airbag body, and a tether connecting the front surface and the rear surface of the airbag body. The tether is arranged relative to the flow adjustment member so as to face the outlet port in a state where the airbag body is inflated to adjust a gas flow ejected from the outlet port. Thus, the airbag can be inflated evenly as a whole.
Abstract:
An air bag device is provided comprising an air bag, a retainer to which the air bag is mounted, a module cover covering the air bag, a protruding member protruding from the module cover towards the retainer, and a restricting member positioned along the outer side of the protruding member. The restricting member restricts displacement of the module cover during air bag inflation.

A steering wheel device for a vehicle in which an airbag module is attached with an engagement element that engages with the steering wheel, where
the engagement element is provided on the airbag module side and has an engaging part that releasably engages with an engaged part formed on the steering wheel side, the engagement elements include at least a first engagement element positioned below the center of steering and a second engagement element positioned above the center of steering with reference to the neutral position of the steering wheel, and the first engagement element is a vibration damping part having an elastic member and the second engagement element includes a second bushing made of a material having a Young's modulus greater than that of the elastic member.
Abstract:
An airbag apparatus includes a cylindrical-shaped inflator that generates gas, an airbag that is inflated by the gas generated by the inflator, a retainer body to which the inflator is attached and fixed and including an insertion hole into which the inflator can be inserted, a flange member that is caulked or press-fitted to the inflator and that constrains the inflator from moving toward one end side in an axial direction and includes an insertion hole into which the inflator can be inserted and a flange surface extending outward in a radial direction, and a retaining member that constrains the inflator from moving toward another end side in the axial direction. The inflator is attached and fixed to the retainer body by bolting the retainer body and the flange member.
