The first imaging optical system, the polygon mirror, and the second imaging optical system are located at different positions in the sub-scanning direction so that the light beam from the first imaging optical system enters the deflection surface obliquely, and the light beam from the polygon mirror enters the curved mirror obliquely.

摘要： By a first image forming optical system (42a to 42d), a plurality of light beams from light sources (41a to 41d) form linear images on a common deflecting surface (46) of an optical deflector (44). Light beams reflected off the optical deflector (44) are reflected by a plurality of curved surface mirrors (45a to 45d) and are allowed to scan over photosensitive members (4a to 4d), respectively. The plurality of curved surface mirrors (45a to 45d) are disposed on the same side with respect to a plane that includes a normal line at a center of the deflecting surface (46) and is parallel to a main scanning direction. Further, curved surfaces of the plurality of curved surface mirrors (45a to 45d) vary in shape. Thus, a tandem type color image forming apparatus that achieves low cost and has excellent optical performance and an optical scanning device that is used favorably in the color image forming apparatus can be provided.

摘要： A reflector 10 is formed so as to have a long side along a scanning direction of a ray bundle. The reflector 10 includes a thin-plate-shaped reflector body having one plane to be a reflection plane 20 and upper and lower ribs 21a and 21b each extending from the reflector body in a back side. The reflector plane 20 is formed of a curved plane having positive power at least in the scanning direction, i.e., a so called free-form plane. The reflector 10 is supported by protrusions 31, 32 and 33 at three points, i.e., first, second and third support points S1, S2 and S3 located in the vicinities of one end portion of the reflector, the other end of thereof, and a center portion thereof, respectively. A distance L1 between an imaginary straight line V1 joining the first and second support points S1 and S2 and the third support point S3 is larger than a sag L2 of the reflector 20. The center of gravity G of the reflector is located inside of an imaginary triangle V3 joining the first, second and third support points S1, S2 and S3.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image forming units having a developer, a charger, and a photosensitive member; a carriage for retaining the plurality of image forming units so that they can be removed and installed, and which rotates the plurality of image forming units between an image forming position and other positions; a laser exposing device for exposing the photosensitive member at an image forming position; an intermediate transfer belt for accepting a toner image formed on the photosensitive member at the image forming position, and forming a color image; an output shaft for coupling with at least one axis end portion of the photosensitive member in the image forming position in the axial direction of the photosensitive member, and positioning the photosensitive member at a proper position; a rotation stop portion for positioning the rotation orientation of the image forming units with respect to the axis of the photosensitive members; and a retransfer roller for transferring the color image formed on the intermediate transfer belt at a retransfer position onto recording paper. Thus, it is possible to retain the image forming unit precisely and reliably at a proper position.

The photoconductive drum positioned in the image forming position is in contact with a transfer device wherein a peripheral velocity of either the photoconductive drum or the transfer device during use is higher than the a peripheral velocity of the other.

A thermal transfer printing method includes the steps of thermally transferring the dyeing layer onto the functional layer by setting a thermal head in contact with the lubricating heat-resistant layer of the dyeing layer transfer member, thermally transferring dye of the ink layer onto the dyeing layer that was transferred onto the functional layer in response to picture signals by setting the thermal head in contact with the lubricating heat-resistant layer of the ink transfer member, and thermally transferring the dyeing layer recorded with the dye onto the main surface of the image-receptor. Thus, pictorial images of high quality are formed on the image-receptor, and thermal transfer printing can be carried out repeatedly and stably.

摘要： A thermal printing apparatus includes an intermediate medium. A color developing layer transfer member includes a first base member and a color developing layer on a surface of the first base member. A dye layer transfer member includes a second base member and a dye layer on a surface of the second base member. The dye layer contains dye. At least a part of the color developing layer is transferred from the color developing layer transfer member onto the intermediate medium in response to at least one of heat and pressure. The dye is transferred from the dye layer of the dye layer transfer member onto the color developing layer on the intermediate medium to form a recorded picture on the color developing layer in response to both heat and pressure while the dye layer on the dye layer transfer member and the color developing layer on the intermediate medium are in contact with each other. The color developing layer with the recorded picture is transferred from the intermediate medium onto an image receptor. A releasing device is operative for implementing separation between the intermediate medium and one of the color developing layer transfer member and the dye layer transfer member. The releasing device includes a releasing blade and a belt support member associated with the releasing blade. The releasing blade engages one of the color developing layer transfer member and the dye layer transfer member. The belt support member supports the intermediate medium along one of a flat plane or an outwardly-projecting plane.
