Abstract:
An optical pickup includes a diffraction grating partitioned into three areas, in which the phase of periodic grating groove structure in an area is successively shifted from that in the adjacent area by 90°. In the generation of a differential push-pull signal, an amplification factor K for sub push-pull signals is varied depending on the type of the optical disk. By such composition of the optical pickup, amplitude deterioration of the tracking error signal accompanying displacement of the object lens is reduced.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a memory module includes a RAM used to constitute a main memory and an SPD for storing first SPD data. A flash ROM is allocated to a memory space the CPU can access directly. A storing module reads out first SPD data from the SPD and stores the first SPD data as second SPD data into an SPD storage area of the flash ROM. A setting module, when the power supply of the personal computer is turned on, carries out an initial setting process for causing the RAM to function as a component element of the main memory on the basis of the SPD data stored in the SPD storage area.
Abstract:
In a sensor for detecting a carbon dioxide gas in an expiration gas of a living body, an airway case is adapted to be disposed below nostrils of the living body, and formed with an airway passage extending across an optical axis of a light beam emitted from a light emitter of the sensor. A mouth guide is adapted to be disposed in front of a mouth of the living body so as to define a space communicated with the airway passage. The mouth guide is pivotably supported on the airway case. A retainer is adapted to retain an oxygen supply tube on the airway adapter body in such an attitude that an oxygen gas supplied from prongs of the oxygen supply tube is not directly injected into the nostrils.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus and method and a program are disclosed wherein a plurality of data can be successively outputted continuously and stably without a delay at output timings scheduled in advance without increasing the cost. When the number of image data whose status is “image decoding completed” is insufficient with respect to a request from an effect image processing section, that is, when the decoding process by a decoding processing section delays with respect to the progress of slideshow, an image data management section supplies image data whose status is “cache” and which have been outputted formerly to the effect image processing section again. The invention can be applied to various apparatus such as a personal computer which can handle still pictures.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes: a selection unit for analyzing attribute information units, which are added upon shooting to at least one still image to be played back, and selecting a predetermined attribute information unit to be displayed together with the still image; and a playback unit for playing back a music track selected by a user, applying at least one effect related to the music track selected by the user, and displaying the still image and text indicating the selected predetermined attribute information unit with the effect on the same screen.
Abstract:
A video and audio recorder and a method of operating the same. The recorder includes a TV signal receiving unit, a video/audio compression recording control unit for compressing the video and audio signals and outputting a compressed video/audio multiplex data at the time of recording a program, an accumulation recording unit for recording the compressed video/audio multiplex data in a recording medium, and a recording control unit for controlling the video/audio compression recording control unit thereby to control the program recording operation. The recording control unit, based on the program information of the program to be recorded, controls the program recording operation by setting proportion information between the video recording bit rate and the audio recording bit rate in the compression process of the video and audio signals in the video/audio compression recording control unit.
Abstract:
A mechanic skill managing system includes a first database storing an average operation time for every kind of check/repair, the average operation time being a time required for an average mechanic with an average skill to complete the check/repair, and a second database storing a skill value indicative of skill of a mechanic, both of which are connected to a processor. The processor calculates the skill value of the mechanic based on a difference or a ratio between the average operation time stored in the first database and an actual operation time spent by the mechanic to actually complete the check/repair, and registers the skill value in the second database. Thus, the skill of the mechanic can be grasped accurately and can be applied to various operations.
Abstract:
A display device of the present invention comprises: a source line; a pixel electrode; a first TFT for switching an electrical connection between the source line and the pixel electrode; and a second TFT as a spare. The second TFT includes a semiconductor film and a gate electrode. The semiconductor film includes a source electrode and a drain electrode. The gate electrode is provided on the semiconductor film with a gate insulation film interposed therebetween. The display device includes an interlayer insulation film between the source line and the semiconductor film of the second TFT. The interlayer insulation film is thicker than the gate insulation film. When the first TFT is unusable, a contact hole is formed in the interlayer insulation film such that the source line is electrically connected to the source electrode, whereby the electrical connection between the source line and the pixel electrode is rendered switchable by the second TFT.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a Raman amplification method realizing Raman amplification of WDM signal light in a wider amplification wavelength band with a simpler configuration, and the like. A Raman amplifier realizing the Raman amplification method comprises a Raman amplification optical fiber, and a pumping light source for supplying pumping light having a wavelength &lgr;p to the amplification optical fiber. In the Raman amplifier, a part of the signal light is Raman-amplified with the pumping light having the wavelength &lgr;p, whereas a part of the Raman-amplified light is utilized as pumping light. This Raman-amplifies signal light including a channel wavelength with a wavelength of (&lgr;p+&Dgr;&lgr;+20 nm) or longer, where &Dgr;&lgr; is the Raman shift amount of wavelength caused by the pumping light at the wavelength &lgr;p.
