Abstract:
A direct-type backlight assembly for a liquid crystal display device includes a lower case, a plurality of lamps disposed over a first surface of the lower case, a plurality of optical sheets disposed over the first surface of the lower case, and a lamp guide disposed on the first surface of the lower case, the lamp guide including a plate parallel to and disposed on the first surface of the lower case, a sheet supporting portion formed on a first surface of the plate to support the optical sheets, a plurality of lamp holders formed on the first surface of the plate to affix the plurality of lamps therein, and a case connector connected to a second surface of the plate and having a plurality of protrusions facing the second surface of the plate.
Abstract:
An optical disc drive includes a main body at which a spindle motor is installed. A tray installed at the main body is loadable/unloadable into/from the main body, and a disc holder is rotatable by the spindle motor when the tray is in a loaded position, and is joinable to a clamping hole of a disc so as to fix the disc.
Abstract:
An audio and video synchronization compensation method and apparatus for smoothly compensating audio and video synchronization in an audio and video system such as a DTV and a DVD player are provided. The apparatus includes a signal decoder unit which extracts time information for reproducing a video and/or audio signal and reference operation time information of a reproduction system from an input compressed stream; a signal synchronization control unit which determines the reproduction state of a signal by comparing reproduction time information of the stream with reference time information of the system, measures the difference between the reproduction time information and the reference time information in the determined signal reproduction state, and adjusts a transition speed used to approach from a signal reproduction interval to a signal synchronization interval according to a reproduction speed value of a pattern corresponding to the difference.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling a focus servo of an optical disk drive is provided. The focus servo controlling method includes the operations of, when an operating mode enters into a focus pull-in mode, detecting a period of time that satisfies a first threshold condition, the first threshold condition set to determine a duration in which a focal point of an optical signal emitted from a pickup is passing through a cover layer of a disk, the determination made by using a first signal proportional to a detected portion of an optical signal reflected by the disk, and preventing focus servo control from being performed during a detected period of time that first satisfies the first threshold condition since the operating mode entered into the focus pull-in mode.
Abstract:
A method of determining the type of disk loaded on an optical disk drive, and an optical disk drive using the method are provided. The disk decision method includes operations of detecting a change in the magnitude of a focus error signal generated during a focus search for a recording layer of a disk closest to an outermost layer of the disk, wherein the change in the magnitude of the focus error signal depends on a change in a recording layer of the disk for which aberration correction is performed, and determining a recording layer architecture of the disk according to the detected change in the magnitude of the focus error signal.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method removing offset of a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) circuit in a disc drive without using a disc when data playback is performed, the apparatus including an ENDEC module and a PLL circuit. The ENDEC module outputs a binary signal if an offset removal mode is set. The PLL circuit removes the offset of the PLL circuit by comparing a phase of the binary signal with a phase of a channel bit clock signal. Therefore, a time to remove the offset of the PLL circuit is reduced and the possibility not to remove the offset of the PLL circuit due to a damaged disc is prevented.
Abstract:
A recordable optical storage medium for recording data without data loss and a method and apparatus for recording data thereon without data loss, including a plurality of recording layers for recording data by alternately forming grooves and lands, wherein recording layers whose recording tracks for recording data are formed on grooves and recording layers whose recording tracks for recording data are formed on lands are alternately formed.
