A touch bar (24) exit device (20) comprises a retractor element (50) disposed in the housing (22) for substantially restilinear movement. The retractor element (50) connects the touch bar (24) and the latch bolt (82) such that the retractor element (50) and the latch bolt (82) are moved toward the retracted position in response to movement of the touch bar (24). An electrically energizable locking mechanism (104) in the exit device (20) includes a reciprocating plunger (106) moving transverse to the retractor element (50). When energized, the locking mechanism (104) is operative to move the plunger (106) to the projected locking position to prevent retraction of the latch bolt. A time delay circuit is connected to the locking mechanism (104). A switch (120) actuated in response to movement of the touch bar (24) is connected to the time delay circuit for starting a predetermined time interval for temporarily delaying deenergization of the locking mechanism (104). When the time delay circuit interrupts power to the locking mechanism (104), the plunger (106) moves allowing the latch bolt (82) to move to the retracted position.

Method and Apparatus for delivering audio signals from a source node to a destination node on a network. The apparatus uses a number of switches that transmit prioritized data on a packet network. The switches are coupled to a number of send/receive nodes for sending and receiving digital audio signals on the data network. The audio packet size and the receive buffers are sized to store a minimum possible number of audio samples to minimize latency in processing audio signals arriving at said receive node, but still ensure audio delivery without interruption due to packet data network delay. An additional feature of the invention is recovery of clock synchronization over the same data network by novel arrangement of transmission of timing packets on the network. By sending a multiplicity of packets at irregular intervals a minimum network transit delay can be determined by each of the receive nodes which allows the receive nodes to filter out packet network transit delay error and maintain accurate local clocks.

The latch comprises a first and second portions movably mounted in the housing and a securing element for releasably connecting the first and second portions in either a first relative axial position or a second relative axial position where the first and second portions of the latch are rotatable relative to one another. In the first axially connected position of the latch, the first and second portions of the latch are movable together relative to the housing so that the first portion at least partially non-rotatably projects outwardly from the opening in the housing in an extended position of the latch, and the first portion is inside the housing in a retracted position of the latch. In the second axially connected position of the latch, the first portion of the latch extends further outwardly from the opening in the housing so that the first portion is rotatable relative to the housing and the first portion may be rotated to a selected position and returned to the first axially connected position of the first and second portions of the latch.
