Abstract: A network fingerprinting component for a computerized system issues network identifiers (NID) for computer networks. Identity confidences may be determined for each issued network identifier with respect to current computer networks. Computer network attributes may include passive network attributes and active network attributes. Retrieving values for active network attributes involves generating network traffic. As a result passive network attributes may be available to the network fingerprinting component before active network attributes. Learned identity confidence modifiers may be applied to identity confidences determined independent of active network attributes to achieve more accurate identity confidence sooner. Better learned identity confidence modifiers may be obtained by comparing identity confidences for a particular computer network determined independently of active network attributes with identity confidences for the computer network determined once active network attributes become available and then adjusting the learned identity confidence modifiers so as to minimize any differences.

Abstract: A method and system for automatically proactively debugging fitting problems in programmable devices. Automatic fitters are computer programs that place and route circuit resources within a programmable device, e.g., a complex programmable logic device (CPLD) to determine the resources used and timing for a given hardware design. Upon a fitting failure for an IC or hardware design, an embodiment first may identify any specific architectural information, if any, causing the failure and may advise the user including solution recommendations. Second, an embodiment obtains a larger device having the same pin package, if available, or a virtual device, and may perform a second fitting on the hardware design but using this larger device. If this fits properly, then the resulting pin assignment is fixed and a third fitting may be performed on the smaller device with the fixed pin assignment. If this fails, further architectural violations are identified and solution recommendations are given to the user. If there are no larger devices that can be used with the hardware design and/or the third fitting does not obtain a proper result, then an embodiment determines if specific named pins are failing to fit. If these pins are identified, and the user has not locked them down, then they may be allowed to float and fitting is performed once more. If no solution can be reached after the above attempts, then an embodiment informs the user that technical support is required and a history of the fitting attempts may be recorded. A programming file may be generated on a successful fit.

Abstract: A wireless access point may be configured to advertise, to mobile user devices, multiple wireless networks available through the wireless access point. For example, service set identifiers (SSIDs) may be specified within an information element (IE) of a communication such as, for example, an 802.11 beacon, broadcasted to mobile user devices. Such an IE may utilize the capability provided by IEEE 802.11 itself to use additional and flexible numbers of information elements within a beacon. Accordingly, networks that would otherwise remain hidden due to limitations of known wireless access points are made visible to mobile user devices. Configuring a wireless access point to advertise multiple available wireless networks, for example, by firmware upgrades, may serve as a viable and cost-effective interim solution and/or alternative to replacing a wireless access point with a wireless access point configured to implement virtual wireless access points.
