Abstract:
A universal x, y-axis positioning input method used for electronic devices having number keys, direction keys and a display screen integrates the characters and/or function keys into several character options to define a menu of columns in at least two rows displayed on the screen, and the menu can be divided into several pages if it is too large; a horizontal numerical row is disposed at the upper part of the menu for indicating the x-coordinates of the character options for selecting and controlling the x-coordinate of the character option by using the numerical keys; the values of y-coordinate, at first determining an initial value corresponding to the horizontal character option row, and then being displayed on the screen by a method other than those displaying the character option rows, finally, using direction keys to select and control the y-coordinate of the character option, and a row of character options can be selected each time; the way of selecting the x-coordinate is interchangeable with that for y-coordinate. Selecting the values of the x, y-axis for the desired character option from the menu completes the input. The invention overcomes the difficulties of locating the key mapping to the desired characters and having too many keystrokes, and also provides a simple, convenient and quick input method to be used universally for any character code sets and having the function keys effect.
Abstract:
A cooling system includes a cooling fan, a fan input-output module for transmitting a control signal to the fan for controlling the rotational speed of the fan, and a chipset interface for generating the fan control signal based on a change in a vital temperature of the computer system. Further provided is a controller for receiving the vital temperature and forwarding the vital temperature to the chipset interface, and a temperature transducer for generating the vital temperature and outputting the vital temperature to the controller. The chipset interface monitors a rotational speed of the cooling fan, and monitors a vital temperature of the computer system. The chipset interface then sets the fan power based on a change in the vital temperature. When the vital temperature decreases, the fan power is reduced to slow the fan, and when the vital temperature increases, the fan power is increased to speed the fan.
Abstract:
A multi-mode input control device for use with a computer via a graphic user interface (GUI) is disclosed. The input control device may optionally perform functions of a mouse device and a trackball device. The mouse and trackball devices share the same key switch, control unit, interface circuit, and signal channel to the computer, which are included in the mouse device. In the mouse mode, the mouse device is individually moved to perform the input control operation in a conventional manner. For the trackball mode, a first signal connector of the trackball device and a second signal connector of the mouse device are connected to each other so that the trackball device can perform the input control operation via the mouse device.
Abstract:
An input method for an electronic device having a plurality of keys and a display screen is disclosed, wherein a menu having a plurality of character options arranged in an x, y-axis matrix with vertical columns and horizontal rows is displayed on the screen, wherein x-coordinate values of the character options are listed on the display screen to identify character options in each of the horizontal rows and an initial y-coordinate value is set in advance for selecting character options, wherein a desired character option can be selected by using keys for selecting horizontal character option rows and the x-coordinate value of the desired character option can be selected by using keys for selecting x-coordinate values, so as to input the desired character option, wherein all selectable character options are displayed on the display screen prior to the selection of the y-coordinate of the horizontal character option row.
Abstract:
An operation control device includes a housing, a control module having a movable operating device carried on a carrier frame in the housing and partially exposed to the outside and rotatable and axially slidable by the user, a circuit module, which includes a rotation sensor module for sensing the direction and amount of rotation of the movable operating device and producing a respective control signal and magnetic sensors for sensing the direction and amount of axial displacement of the movable operating device in a non-contact manner. The human-friendly design of the operation control device facilitates cursor control, assuring high operation stability and comfort.
Abstract:
A soundless mouse includes a mouse base, a mouse case, a button, a scroll wheel, a magnetic element, a circuit board, a magnetoresistance sensor and a spring. When the button is clicked, the magnetic element is closed to the magnetoresistance sensor and the magnetoresistance sensor generates an enabling signal to the circuit board. Since the magnetic element is not in direct contact with the magnetoresistance sensor, no clicking noise is generated during operation of the soundless mouse.
Abstract:
A micro switch includes a base, a common terminal, a normally open terminal, a normally close terminal, a top cover, a pressing element, a resilient piece and a cushioning pad. The cushioning pad is disposed on an inner surface of the top cover. By means of the cushioning pad, the noise generated during operation of the micro switch is minimized.
Abstract:
A succession Chinese character input method comprising the steps of: (a) inputting a Chinese character, and (b) fetching succession Chinese characters relative to the inputted Chinese character from a database of vocabulary of common succession Chinese characters and/or a database of vocabulary of self-edited succession Chinese characters, (c) and/or displaying fetched succession Chinese characters on a display screen, (d) selecting the desired succession Chinese character from the display screen for input. The database of vocabulary of common succession Chinese characters is prepared by collecting common succession Chinese characters subject to the characteristic that there is a successive relationship between every two concatenate Chinese characters in a Chinese sentence. The database of vocabulary of self-edited succession Chinese characters is prepared by collecting the inputted succession Chinese character which is automatically stored in the database of vocabulary of self-edited succession Chinese characters for further selection when no succession Chinese character was obtained from the database of vocabulary of common succession Chinese characters after input of one Chinese character. Whenever a Chinese character is inputted, the recently selected succession Chinese character of the same inputted Chinese character will be displayed on the first place. So as to increase the chance of inputting the Chinese characters by selecting Chinese characters from the display screen directly and to achieve a simple, convenient and fast input effect.
Abstract:
A pointing device includes a wheel module capable of swinging left and right with respect to a housing. With rotation of the wheel and swinging of the wheel module, multiple-dimensional scrolling control is provided. In the wheel module, an optical rotation-sensing module is set beside the wheel to sense its rotation, and an elastic step unit, installed on the wheel module, engages a step-wise uneven ring inside the wheel for generating a stepwise vibration feeling when the wheel is rotated.
Abstract:
An electroluminescent keyboard includes a plurality of membrane switch structures, a plurality of keycaps, a plurality of electroluminescent elastic members, and an electrode layer. The electroluminescent elastic members are arranged between the keycaps and respective membrane switch structures for emitting light in response to an electric current or an electric field. The electrode layer is arranged between the electroluminescent elastic members and respective membrane switch structures and electrically connected to respective electroluminescent elastic members. The electroluminescent elastic members emit light when the electric current passes through the electrode layer or the strong electric field is applied to the electrode layer. The light-emitting element and the backlight module that are used in the conventional keyboard are not included in the electroluminescent keyboard. In addition, the light could be effectively controlled to be guided to a desired luminous region of the keycap. As a consequence, the illuminated keyboard is very cost-effective.
