Abstract: A method may include: receiving an image of a mouth region of a patient's face; extracting teeth contours within the image of the mouth region of the patient's face; locating a mouth opening within the image of the mouth region of the patient's face; extracting the tooth contours from a 3D model of the patient's teeth; and aligning the tooth contours from the 3D model with the tooth contours of the teeth within the image of the mouth region of the patient's face.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for virtually representing an orthodontic treatment outcome using automated detection of facial and dental reference objects is disclosed herein. The computer-implemented method may involve modeling initial positions of an orthodontic patient's teeth in a three-dimensional (3D) virtual model and determining the effect of application of various force systems applied through an orthodontic treatment plan on the patient's teeth. Images of the patient's face may be used to identify facial reference objects. Dental reference objects of the patient's dentition may be identified from the 3D virtual model. A relationship between the facial reference objects and the dental reference objects may form the basis of modifications to the orthodontic treatment plan and/or modeling final orthodontic positions of the orthodontic treatment plan.

Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatuses to obtain an image, or a set of images, of a user's teeth from one or more predetermined viewing angles. These methods and apparatuses may include guiding a user to capture a predetermined set of images of the user's teeth at specified views using an indicator that is output from a mobile telecommunications device, wherein the indicator indicates to the user one or more positions of the mobile telecommunications device relative to a mouth of the user. The captured images are uploaded to provide a treatment progress evaluation.

Abstract: A method may include: receiving facial image of the patient that depicts the patient's teeth; receiving a 3D model of the patient's teeth; determining color palette of the depiction of the patient's teeth; coding 3D model of the patient's teeth based on attributes of the 3D model; providing the 3D model, the color palette, and the coded 3D model to a neural network; processing the 3D model, the color palette, and the coded 3D model by the neural network to generate a processed image of the patient's teeth; simulating specular highlights on the processed image of the patient's teeth; and inserting the processed image of the patient's teeth into a mouth opening of the facial image.
