    Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, apparatus, and computer programs for providing a network with assistance information from a user equipment (UE) that is participating in a multimedia telephony session. In one aspect, a method includes determining a connection parameter of a multimedia telephony session between a user equipment (UE) and a remote UE. The method further includes N generating assistance information based on the connection parameter. Yet further, the method include sending, using a medium access control (MAC) control element, the assistance information to an access node (AN) serving the UE.

In one embodiment, a UE is configured for codec bitrate adaptation via an interface configured to receive a bandwidth indication and a codec awareness indication from an eNB. The UE process the bandwidth indication and identifies, based on the codec awareness indication, a first codec from a plurality of codecs supported by the UE. The UE then configures with the eNB using data encoded with the first codec. This data may, for example, be Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) data or other such media data. Selection of the codec or associated codec information may be further based on the codec awareness indication.

    Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, apparatus, and computer programs for configuring packet loss rate (PLR) thresholds for UEs in a wireless communications network. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, by a UE connected to a wireless communications network, a packet loss rate (PLR) threshold configuration message from a node in the wireless communications network; determining, by the UE and based on the PLR threshold configuration message, a new PLR threshold configuration; and in response to determining the new PLR threshold configuration, selectively adjusting one or more configuration settings associated with a connection to the wireless communications network based on the new PLR threshold configuration.
