Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a UE. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a signalling from a network node to trigger a non-contention based random access procedure, wherein the signalling includes a first information indicating a first numerology and a second information indicating a second numerology. The method also includes transmitting a random access preamble based on the second numerology to the network node. The method further includes receiving a random access response from the network node. In addition, the method includes monitoring a control channel for scheduling a new transmission based on the first numerology.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE). In one embodiment, the method includes the UE receiving from a base station a first information indicating multiple sets of transmission occasions for a signal. The method also includes the UE receiving from the base station a second information indicating an association between a transmission occasion of the signal and a base station beam.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for triggering a beam state information report by a user equipment in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment measures multiple beam reference signals of non-serving beams from a cell and derives multiple values from measurements. The UE derives a first value, wherein the first value is a highest value, a lowest value, or an average value of the multiple values. The UE triggers to report a measurement result for a beam reference signal if at least one condition is satisfied, wherein the condition is based on comparing the first value to a threshold.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for beam detection in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes the UE initiating a RA procedure. The method also includes the UE transmitting multiple RA preambles to a base station of the cell at different occasions for the base station to determine a beam set of the UE. The method further includes the UE starts monitoring a PDCCH for RA response reception from the base station after finishing transmissions of the multiple RA preambles.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed, from the perspective of the UE, for reporting channel state information (CSI). In one embodiment, the method includes a UE being configured with at least two CSI-RS (Channel State Information-Reference Signal) resources. In addition, the method includes the UE performing measurements on the at least two CSI-RS resources. The method also includes the UE generating multiple CSIs according to measurements on the at least two CSI-RS resources, wherein at least one CSI corresponds to measurements on more than one CSI-RS resource. The method further includes the UE reporting at least one of the generated CSIs.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for handling beamforming in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a second signal indicating a number of beam sweeping from a cell, wherein there are multiple network nodes in the cell and at least two network nodes of the cell have different beamforming capabilities. The method also includes receiving a first signal from any network node of the cell at multiple time intervals based on the number of beam sweeping.
Abstract:
A method for a wireless communications system is disclosed. In one example, user equipment (UE) (e.g. a mobile phone) receives an indication from a network (for example, by way of a transmission and reception point (TRP)) indicating whether a first transmission and a second transmission to the UE can be combined for decoding. The UE also receives the first transmission via a first UE beam and the second transmission via a second UE beam. The first transmission and the second transmission are received concurrently. The first and second transmissions can arrive via different serving beams and/or different TRPs of the same cell. Based on the indication, the UE combines the first and second transmissions for decoding purposes.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for handling measurement in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes the UE measuring a signal of a cell to derive information related to beamforming. The method further includes the UE providing the information to a network node, wherein the information comprises at least an average or a summation of measurement results for a number of qualified beams of the cell, and wherein the number of qualified beams to derive the average or the summation is limited by a first threshold.
Abstract:
A method for a wireless communications system is disclosed. In one example, user equipment (UE) maintains at least one serving beam, and uses a serving beam to perform an uplink (UL) transmission of data. The data is stored in an uplink hybrid automatic repeat request (UL HARQ) buffer. When there is a failure to track the serving beam, a beam recovery procedure is initialized. After successful completion of the beam recovery procedure, the UE retransmits the data stored in the UL HARQ buffer. The UE prevents the data from being flushed from the UL HARQ buffer when the failure to track the serving beam occurs, so that the data can be retransmitted.
