Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for making ordinary objects network-enabled interfaces. A radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag may be fixed or detachably attached to an item capable of being manipulated by a person to obtain information about the item or to cause a performance of a task associated with the item. The RFID tag may include a capacitive touch interface that, when manipulated by a person, causes the RFID tag to emit an identifier associated with a corresponding item. A receiver, having the identifier and an instruction from a person, may communicate with a remote computing device to process the instruction and to generate a response to the instruction.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating color names for colors corresponding to images and/or palettes. A color image is obtained, and one or more color palettes corresponding to the color image are identified. The color palette may be generated based on palette generation criteria, which may facilitate or control a palette generation process. Illustratively, the palette generation process may include image pre-processing, color distribution generation, representative color identification, palette candidate generation, and palette determination. A color name for each color identified in the color palette and/or the color image can be identified based at least in part on color name popularity information. Color name popularity information may be identified from color name-related voting results provided by a social network site. Aspects of the disclosure are further directed to processing the identified color name(s), such as updating color name metadata associated with the original color image and/or the color palette.

Abstract: Features are disclosed for dynamically generating enhanced content showing an item to simulate a physics property of the item via an interaction that will initiate such interactive features. A physics model may be generated to enhance existing content. To generate the physics model, the system analyzes the content such as to detect a feature of the item (e.g., zipper on a clothing item or button on an electronic device item) shown in the content. Some aspects also consider the access device rendering the enhanced content to ensure the enhanced content is appropriately selected and formatted for presentation via the access device.

Abstract: A projection equipped computing device is described that projects an accurate representation of an item available for purchase from an electronic marketplace onto a projection surface. For example, the device may identify physical dimensions of an item from an image of the item. The device may then determine the distance between it and the projection surface and project a light beam toward the projection surface to form a representation of the item on the projection surface. The representation of the item formed on projection surface has representative dimensions that mimic, at the determined distance, the physical dimensions of the item as identified from the image of the item. Accordingly, the user of the device can envision how the item would appear in a space located relative to the projection surface if the user purchased the item from the electronic marketplace and placed the item in that space.

Abstract: The display of 3D-representations involves navigation and interaction with users engaged with the display. Points of interest (POIs), as applied to areas of interest for a 3D-representation, are anchored to the 3D-representation on the display and are moveable in synchrony with the 3D-representation navigation. POIs are presented in which interactive actions are associated with the POIs. When a user selects one of the interactive actions associated with a POI, the selection can prompt the display of a new 3D-representation of an item related to the 3D-representation to which the POI is anchored, thereby improving access and analysis about information for related items.
