摘要: A forecast model processes performance data from a site, e.g., a cable modem termination system (CMTS), to obtain a set of concurrency equations for existing speed tiers that is based on an observed subscriber bandwidth for the site. A new set of concurrency equations is obtained for new speed tiers so that a new subscriber bandwidth can be predicted for the new speed tiers. Based on the new subscriber bandwidth, expected subscriber growth, and changes in data consumption, the site is reconfigured with additional ports based on the forecast. This process can be repeated for the other sites. Sites may be grouped together based on the observed subscriber bandwidth. A new subscriber bandwidth may be predicted for the group with the new speed tiers so that additional ports can be configured for each of the sites in the group.

摘要: A method is described for providing wired line telephone and mobile telephone cross-usage comprising the steps of de-activating call forwarding of incoming mobile telephone calls to a subscriber's home wired line telephone and for activating call forwarding of incoming wired line telephone calls to the subscriber's mobile telephone upon removal of the mobile telephone from a customer premises equipment (CPE) cradle. The method further provides for activating call forwarding of incoming mobile telephone calls to the subscriber's home wired line telephone and for de-activating call forwarding of incoming wired line telephone calls to the subscriber's mobile telephone upon placement of the mobile telephone into said CPE cradle. A customer premises equipment (CPE) cradle for providing home wired line and mobile telephone cross-usage has a conventional wired line telephone jack, an AC in plug/port, at least one connector pin, at least one charging pin, a detection switch, a support for the mobile telephone, a display and buttons unit, a charging mechanism, a detection switch and a programmable module.

摘要: In a telephone network for use in placing telephone calls to a destination number associated with a called party, the destination number having restricted access for collect telephone calls, a system and method for providing a message to the called party of a collect telephone call from a calling party. A caller placing a collect telephone call is notified of the restricted access of the destination number for collect telephone calls and provided with an option for recording a message for delivery to the called party. If the calling party accepts the option, a message is recorded, such as by routing the collect telephone call to a messaging platform for use in recording the message.

摘要: A computer implemented process is provided for fast and accurate evaluation of the performance characteristics of the periodic-review (s,S) inventory policy with complete back ordering. This policy has an underlying stochastic process that is a renewal process. The method provides a novel computer implementation of a fast and accurate way to compute approximations of the renewal function. In order to overcome the computational problems in evaluating renewal functions numerically, an approximation scheme has been devised whereby the renewal function of the truncated normal distribution can be characterized by two parameters: (1) its coefficient of variation, and (2) the point at which the function needs to be evaluated. This approximation is derived in two stages. In the first stage, a class of rational polynomial approximations are developed to the renewal function, called Pade approximants. In the second stage, polynomial expressions are derived for each coefficient of the Pade approximants in terms of the coefficient of variation of the distribution.

In some embodiments, when the user “catches up to” the content as it is being received via the first transmission technique, a switch may be made to obtain the content via a second transmission technique, allowing reception of the content via the first transmission technique to be terminated. In some embodiments, a user equipment device may include a buffer that may be used to store the content received via the second transmission technique, which may support earlier termination with respect to receiving content via the first transmission technique. In some embodiments, the buffer may support a rewind operation.
