摘要: A method of conveying information to an interrogator includes the interrogator sensing the presence of a resonant radio frequency circuit that is tuned to a first resonant frequency. Responsive to a parasitic radio frequency circuit being brought to within a parasitic coupling distance of the resonant radio frequency circuit, the interrogator senses a shift in the resonant frequency of the resonant radio frequency circuit, wherein the shift in the resonant frequency conveys information to the interrogator

摘要: A system and method for synchronization of a pixilated labeling media and a digital medium are disclosed. The digital medium includes a substrate and a pixilated labeling layer disposed on the substrate. The labeling layer includes a plurality of color pixels adapted to form a predetermined color when activated and a plurality of synchronization pixels interspersed among the color pixels. The synchronization pixels are distinguishable by a sensor from the color pixels prior to activation of the color pixels.

摘要: The present invention relates to a microcapsule that can be used to form a rewritable medium for visual displays that are stable in the presence of electric fields having a strength that is typical in the work environment. The microcapsule of the invention comprises charged particles of one or more colors that are suspended in a phase change material that has a melting temperature in the range of between about 30° C. and about 200° C. The microcapsules can be used to form an electrophoretic coating that includes microcapsules of the invention distributed throughout a polymer matrix. The electrophoretic coating can be used to coat a substrate to form a rewritable medium.

摘要: For each of a number of regions of a label surface of a substrate that are to be optically written to form a human-readable image, a corresponding power level at which an optical beam is to impinge the region to optically write a desired mark to the region as part of the image is determined. The optical beam impinges the region by being switched on and off from a higher power level to a lower power level to achieve the corresponding power level on average. At least one of the following are adjusted: a number of times the optical beam is switched on and off, a length of time the optical beam remains on each time it is switched on, and a duty cycle of the optical beam while the optical beam is positioned over the region.
