Abstract:
A graphical input device having the appearance of a drop-down menu in a browser-based display is generated locally, within a user's computer, in place of a pull-down menu expressed in a mark-up language such as HTML or its derivatives downloaded into the user's computer. The set of possible entries to be displayed along with the graphical input device may vary depending on the user. The minimum display width needed for full-width display of even the widest entry is evaluated locally by scripting and the width of the displayed graphical input device is adjusted accordingly. The drop-down list and its listed entries may be wider than the data entry field. The user can thus view and select customized possible entries that cannot fit within the nominal displayed data entry field of the assumed pull-down menu.

The invention is directed to a chlorinator mounted inline in a water purification system having a housing having an inlet end and an outlet end and an upper compartment having an electronics section with a controller unit contained within the electronics section and in electrical communication with a power source and an at least one electrolytic plate. The system having a heat sink member in thermal communication with the controller, wherein the flow of the water in the water purification system cools the heat sink member and the controller unit.

A method of labeling amino acid-containing compounds and derivatives thereof with a halide moiety comprises reacting a nucleophilic moiety on such compounds with a halogenated electrophilic compound. Radioactive halide-labeled amino acid-containing compounds can be targeted to diseased sites and provide a means to diagnose and/or treat the disease.

An access point comprises a wireless transceiver and host logic coupled to the wireless transceiver. The host logic is adapted to provide access by a wireless station to a wired network. Through the wireless transceiver, the host logic wirelessly provides a symmetric encryption key to the wireless station using asymmetric encryption.

An emergency and temporary building system. The system allows for a flexible building approach where a variety of structures can be built from the same basic components. The system allows a building to be quickly erected with a few basic tools. Components of the system are assembled using three basic clips. Components of the building system include a flat square panel and a plank having a slanted edge that can be clipped to the panel and to other planks to make a frame to contain the panel. Doors, windows, screens, plumbing and electrical connections can be made by replacing the standard flat panel with special panels for each application.

The cable bracket mechanism is extendable between a cleat or clamp mounted to a building and a part of a bay or bow window that is remote from the building. The mechanism includes an elongated bracket having a right angle flange at one end that extends away from its main body in a direction opposite the hook portion at the main body other end, a cable having one end connected to a building and at its opposite end to a stud extended through an aperture in the flange, a bracket having the hook portion connected thereto and being mounted to the window and fasteners threadable on the stud to bear against the flange for adjusting the tension in the cable.

Compounds that include a targeting moiety bound to a regioselective leaving group are useful for preparing imaging agents. The imaging agents can be isolated from by-products derived from the leaving group based on differences in the chemical attributes (e.g., net charge or polarity) of the molecules or physical attributes of the molecules through the use of a solid support. Methods of producing an imaging agent include the steps of providing a compound that includes a targeting moiety bound to a support via a linker group that contains a site for regioselective substitution of a detectable species, contacting the compound with a solution containing the detectable species, and recovering the imaging agent. Kits which include a first container having therein a solution containing a detectable species and a second container having therein a compound that includes a targeting moiety bound to a support via a leaving group that contains a site for regioselective substitution of the detectable species are also useful for preparing imaging agents.

A method of treating wastewater to increase effluent volatile fatty acid content consisting of providing wastewater to a primary treatment vessel and adding a select quantity of a chemical, typically an aluminum or iron salt, to the wastewater, enhancing the separation of organic matter. Separated organic matter is then removed from the chemically treated wastewater forming a primary sludge and a primary effluent. A portion of the primary sludge is fermented to form a volatile fatty acid rich liquor. The volatile fatty acid rich liquor may then be used with the primary effluent, directed to a bioreactor, thereby forming a volatile fatty acid enriched bioreactor feed. The volatile fatty acid enriched influent may be further treated through known biological phosphorous and nitrogen removal methods.

In a cooling system for the leading-edge region of a hollow gas-turbine blade, a duct (3), through which flow occurs longitudinally, extends from the blade root up to the blade tip and is defined in the region of the blade body (4) by the inner walls of the leading edge (5), the suction side (6) and the pressure side (7) and by a web (8). The inner walls of the suction side and the pressure side are provided with a plurality of ribs (9), which run slantwise and at least approximately in parallel. The suction-side ribs and the pressure-side ribs are offset from one another over the blade height. The ribs (9) run radially inward from the web (8) in the direction of the leading edge (5), merge into the radial in the region of the leading edge and are led around the leading edge. The deviation of the ribs (9) from the slant into the radial is effected with the smallest possible radius. The ratio of the height (h) of the ribs (9) to the local height (H) of the duct (3) is constant over the longitudinal extent of the ribs.
