Abstract: Biocidal compositions including a carrier, a copper(I) salt, and a copper-assisting additive different from the carrier are provided, which in some aspects have improved antimicrobial efficacy and/or total color difference. Also provided are biocidal compositions or UV curable films thereof that exhibit high transmittance that is similar to the transmittance of an otherwise identical composition or film thereof without either the copper(I) salt or the copper-assisting additive. Also provided are biocidal additive formulations in which a copper(I) salt has a molarity of at least 20 mM.

Abstract: A glass-ceramic composition as defined herein. The glass-ceramic composition includes a first crystalline phase comprising lithium disilicate. The glass-ceramic composition can include up to 10 wt % CaO, up to 5 wt % Na2O, up to 10 wt % B2O3, and greater than 0.5 wt % ZrO2. The glass-ceramic composition can also include from 50 to 75 wt % SiO2, from 1 to 5 wt % Al2O3, from 1 to 8 wt % P2O5, and from 5 to 20 wt % Li2O. In aspects, the glass-ceramic composition can include a second crystalline phase including wollastonite, apatite, cristobalite, β-quartz, lithiophosphate, or a combination thereof. Also disclosed are methods of making and using the disclosed compositions.

Abstract: Glass articles having a thin glass layer and atop optically transparent polymeric hard-coat layer disposed on atop surface of the thin glass layer. The top optically transparent polymeric hard-coat layer may have a thickness in a range of 0.1 microns to 200 microns and a pencil hardness of 6H or more, when the pencil hardness is measured with the optically transparent polymeric hard-coat layer disposed on the top surface of the glass layer. The glass articles avoid ejection of glass shard particles from the glass article upon bending to a failure during a static two-point bend test.
