Abstract: A manifold for control of fluid and/or vapor flow between a container and a pump cartridge for a compounder system is provided. One or more manifolds may be disposed in a magazine configured to secure and align the manifolds with a plurality of ports in the cartridge. Each manifold may include a needle having forward and rear openings to a central bore. A needle housing may include a slot configured to receive a push rod for actuating the needle forward and backward. In a forward, engaged position, the openings in the needle may be disposed on opposite sides of a sealing member of the manifold to form a fluid pathway through the manifold. In a rearward, disengaged position, both the forward and rear openings in the needle may be disposed on the same side of the sealing member to prevent fluid and vapor from flowing through the manifold.

Abstract: A compounder system having a vial puck configured for attachment to a vial containing a drug is provided. The vial puck includes features for facilitating uniform control of vials of various sizes in an automatic compounder system. The vial puck features may include a vial recess for receiving a vial of a particular size and securing the vial within the vial recess. The features may also include a cylindrical central portion, perpendicular extensions that extend from a top of the cylindrical central portion, a gear extending from the cylindrical central portion, and a sealing member disposed in the cylindrical central portion. The vial puck may include a cylindrical protrusion configured to press against a septum of the vial to form a seal between the vial puck and the vial. The sealing member may be configured to receive a needle of the compounder system therethrough to allow access to the vial.

Abstract: Needleless connectors are described herein. A needleless connector includes a body, a valve element at least partially disposed within the body, and a base. The valve element includes a cylindrical portion having an outwardly extending flange at a distal end. The flange has a bottom surface with an outer area and an inner area. The base includes a rim having a top surface that is in contact with at least a portion of the outer area of the flange of the valve element, the rim defining a recess with a bottom surface distally separated from the top surface of the rim, and at least one support member extending from the rim into the recess so as to contact the inner portion of the bottom surface of the flange.

Abstract: A disposable pump cartridge for a compounder system is provided. The cartridge may include a plurality of controllable fluid pathways and a piston for pumping fluid and/or vapors through selected ones of the fluid pathways. The cartridge may include a plurality of valves operable to select particular pathways from the plurality of pathways. The fluid pathways may be formed from a portion of a cartridge frame and a sealing membrane disposed on the cartridge frame. A cartridge bezel disposed over the sealing membrane may include openings that provide access to the valves. The valves and the piston may be operated by a pump drive of the compounder system. The bezel may include additional openings that provide access to ports within the cartridge for receiving diluents or for providing waste. Portions of the sealing membrane within the additional openings in the bezel may be configured to receive a needle therethrough.

Abstract: Needleless connectors are described. An example needleless connector includes a housing and a compressible valve. The housing may define an internal cavity and may include a body section having a first port and one or more internal contact tabs and a base section having a valve mount and a second port. The compressible valve may be disposed within at least a portion of the internal cavity and be movably retained within the housing. The compressible valve may include a flange portion for securing the compressible valve within the housing. A central longitudinal axis of the housing may be defined by a coaxial arrangement of the first and second port. The one or more internal contact tabs may be arranged to contact an outer side surface of the flange portion such that a radial force substantially orthogonal to the central longitudinal axis is provided for securement.

Abstract: A needleless connector has a body having an internal cavity with a sealing ridge, a port, an output flow channel, and a fluid flow path between the port and output flow channel. The connector also has a collapsible valve disposed within the cavity. The valve includes a cylindrical wall having a center axis, an internal surface, and a shoulder configured to sealingly contact the ridge of the body, thereby blocking the fluid flow path. The valve also includes a head fixedly attached to the wall. The head has a smiley cut at a first angular position about the center axis and a continuous top surface that is generally perpendicular to the axis. The valve also includes a dimple formed in the internal surface of the cylindrical wall. The dimple extends around the internal surface over an angle.
