Abstract:
A pair of shade brackets and a diverter are provided for diverting a shade material of a roller shade to a fixed drop down position. The pair of mounting brackets are adapted to secure to a structure and retain the roller shade therebetween. Each mounting bracket comprises a diverter retaining portion. The diverter comprises a diverter roller and a pair of bearings disposed on two opposite ends of the diverter roller. The diverter is removably retained between the pair of mounting brackets such that each bearing is engaged by a respective diverter retaining portion and the diverter roller is adapted to freely rotate via the bearings. As the shade material is raised or lowered, the diverter roller rolls on the shade material via the bearings.
Abstract:
A hem bar of a cable guided shade adapted to be removably attached to a pair of cables secured along opposite sides of a structural opening. The hem bar comprises a pair of cable engaging portions disposed at two opposite ends of the hem bar. Each cable engaging portion comprises a tubular body with a longitudinal channel extending therein and a slot traversing the tubular body from the top end to the bottom end of the tubular body. The hem bar may removably and slidably engage the pair of cables by twisting the hem bar in a first direction to align each slot in the cable engaging portions with a length of the respective cable, inserting the cables through the slots into the channels in the cable engaging portions of the hem bar, and twisting the hem bar in a second direction, opposite the first direction, to capture the cables within the channels in the cable engaging portions.
Abstract:
An angle shift compensation system and method for controlling a sinusoidally driven motor to achieve efficient motion and reduced noise. The motor controller uses the angle shift compensation method to monitor the angle shift between a sinusoidal motor control signal configured to drive the motor and a feedback signal received from at least one position detector indicating the position of the motor rotor with respect to the motor stator. In response, the motor controller proportionally adjusts the amplitude of the motor control signal based on the monitored angle shift to maintain the angle shift substantially equal to an angle shift threshold.

Abstract:
A roller shade is disclosed having a counterbalancing assembly with an optimally pretensioned spring that lowers the torque load on the motor of the roller shade throughout the rolling up or rolling down cycles. The roller shade comprises a roller tube, a gudgeon pin having a first stop, a gudgeon body having a through bore and rotatably connected about the gudgeon pin and operably connected to the roller tube, a limit nut operably connected to the gudgeon body and adapted to axially travel along the gudgeon pin within the through bore, a spring, a first spring carrier connected to the first end of the spring and operably connected to the gudgeon pin, and a second spring carrier connected to the second end of the spring and operably connected to the roller tube. The spring is pretensioned and the limit nut abuts the first stop thereby locking the pretension. Rotation of the roller tube to roll down the shade further tensions the spring, and rotation of the roller tube to roll up the shade releases the tension in the spring.
Abstract:
A mechanism for storing a length of cord that includes a first and second pair of pulleys mounted at opposite ends of a frame. An intermediate section of a cord is stored in the frame and has one end of the stored section fixed to the frame, with the other end extending from the frame. The stored cord section is at least partially wound over the pair of pulleys, and one pair of pulleys is slidably mounted for motion toward the other pair of pulleys. A damper is coupled to one of the second pair of pulleys, which engages the pulley to rotate about an axis to damp the rotary motion of one of the second pair of pulleys in such a manner that the intermediate storage section is in tension during retraction and withdrawal. The mechanism further includes a solenoid that is activated locally or remotely by a switch.
Abstract:
Presented is a gudgeon assembly that includes a gudgeon body, a first ball bearing, a second ball bearing, a gudgeon pin, a first spring plate, a second spring plate, and two springs. The gudgeon pin extends through the gudgeon body and is coaxial with the first and second ball bearings. The first spring plate is coupled to a distal portion of the gudgeon pin. The second spring plate defines an opening and is coupled to the second ball bearing. The opening is coaxial with the second ball bearing and the gudgeon pin. The two springs are coupled to the first spring plate and the second spring plate. Longitudinal axes of the two springs are coplanar and non-coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the gudgeon pin. The gudgeon pin, the first spring plate, and the second spring plate rotate together as a single unit and rotate independently of the gudgeon body.

A retractor for storing a length of cord that includes a first and second pair of pulleys mounted at opposite ends of a frame. An intermediate section of a cord is stored in the frame.
Abstract:
A motorized shade for covering an architectural opening comprising a roller tube and a shade material comprising an upper end attached to the roller tube and a lower end. The shade material at least partially comprises electrically conductive material and the roller tube comprises an electrically conductive material that creates an electrically conductive path between the conductive material of the shade material and the roller tube. The motorized shade further comprises a capacitive touch sensor electrically connected to the roller tube via at least one electrical contact, and a controller electrically connected to the capacitive touch sensor and adapted to detect a touch of the shade material via the capacitive touch sensor and in response generate a command.
