    摘要: A monitoring system uses sound waves and/or ultrasound waves that are emitted into a structure being monitored from one or more monitoring devices and echo-waves from the interior and surface of the structure are received at one or more monitoring devices at locations of importance to the stability and operational worthiness of the structure. Received signals from echo-waves are processed so that operational noise is largely eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level then collected and stored or archived; newly received and processed signals are also compared with existing archive signals and a decision is made for each new signal if it is representative of the structure being unchanged or representative of the structure after significant structural change has occurred. Results of decisions at locations of interest are combined to give a graded risk for the structure as a whole as well as identifying specific locations of significant structural change. An operator is warned when a threshold risk is reached allowing response actions to be initiated, for example: safety procedures and/or repair procedures.

Methods include directing microwave and/or mm wave radiation in a predetermined direction using a transmission apparatus, including a transmission element; receiving radiation from an entity resulting from the transmitted radiation using a detection apparatus; and generating one or more detection signals in the frequency domain using the detection apparatus. Methods may include operating a controller, wherein operating the controller includes causing the transmitted radiation to be swept over a predetermined range of frequencies, performing a transform operation on the detection signal(s) to generate one or more transformed signals in the time domain, and determining, from one or more features of the transformed signal, one or more dimensions of a metallic or dielectric object upon which the transmitted radiation is incident. A system and method for remote detection and/or identification of a metallic threat object using late time response (LTR) signals is also disclosed.

    摘要: In order for automobile exhaust catalysts to function they must be at operational temperatures. When an engine starts from cold the vehicle, including the exhaust system and any after-treatment device located therein, is at ambient temperature. Since 60% to 80% of the total emissions emitted occur at engine cold start and idle up to 120 seconds, it is imperative that the catalyst function as fast as possible. This invention provides a passive thermatically controlled bypass valve to enable the exhaust flow to bypass the enthalpy loss incurred by driving the turbine wheel of a turbocharger, and thus more rapidly deliver heat to the catalyst or after-treatment.

    摘要: A computer implemented method includes monitoring activity on the virtual machine. A plurality of activities being performed at the virtual machine is identified. Each of the activities includes an activity source, an activity target, and an association between the activity source and the activity target. The activity sources, activity targets, and associations are stored in the memory. A fingerprint indicative of the activity on the virtual machine is created from the stored activities. The fingerprint is transmitted to prevent future attacks that comprise the same or similar activities as indicated by the fingerprint.
