摘要: An overall processing time to rasterize, at the first device, the electronic document to be rendered is computed. Also, a rendering time to render, at the first device, the electronic document to be rendered is computed. When the overall processing time to rasterize at the first device is greater than the rendering time to render at the first device, the electronic document to be rendered is parsed into a first document and sub-documents. A productivity capacity of each node is determined, the productivity capacity being a measured of the processing power of the node and the communication cost of exchanging information between the first device and the node. A sub-document is rasterized at a node when a productivity capacity of the node reduces the processing time to rasterize the electronic document to be rendered to be less than the computed overall processing time. The rasterized first document and each rasterized sub-document are aggregated to create a rasterized electronic document to be rendered at the first device.

摘要: A printed image can be redundantly encoded by printing a visible image using a colorant with a luminance that contrasts with that of the output sheet and printing a redundant image using a colorant with a luminance that varies only slightly from that of the output sheet. Accordingly, the visible image can be easily read by a user while the redundant image is substantially invisible to the human eye at normal reading distances, yet capable of being captured by a conventional digital scanner. In one aspect, redundantly encoded images may be printed on a white background, with visible images printed in black text and redundant images printed in blue in content regions of the visible image and in yellow in its background regions.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for spectrally-encoding plural source images and for providing the spectrally-encoded plural source images in a composite image, for rendering the composite image on a substrate, or for recovering at least one of the encoded source images from the rendered composite image such that the recovered source image is made distinguishable. The rendered composite image includes at least a first source image that is encoded and rendered with use of a selected colorant so as to be visually discernible on the substrate during a plurality of modes of intended illumination as a “background” image, and a second, “narrow band” source image that is encoded in the composite image so as to be recovered when illuminated by at least a selected of the plurality of modes of intended illumination that employs complementary narrow band illuminant.

At least one of the source images includes image content in the form of a textured image. When the rendered composite image is subjected to illumination by one of the narrow band illuminants for which a source image was encoded, the textured image in the recovered source image becomes visually detectable.

摘要: A method and apparatus selectively displays a processor generated image in accordance with user instructions detected by a processor from a processor viewing device disposed to view a real reference item controlled by the user. The real item, preferably a page of paper, is disposed as a reference frame for an electronic image to be displayed. The orientation of the page is identified by the system. Corresponding real world coordinates are computed for the captured image and compared with predetermined standards to verify the nature of the object.
