The turbocharger system may include a cylinder head forming a portion of a combustion chamber and including an integrated exhaust manifold in fluidic communication with the combustion chamber and a wastegate valve positioned within the cylinder head including an inlet in fluidic communication with the integrated exhaust manifold and an outlet in fluidic communication with an outlet of a turbine positioned downstream of the integrated exhaust manifold.

Methods and systems are provided for reducing corrosion of a charge air cooler and preventing engine misfire due to condensate formation. In response to condensate forming in a charge air cooler, engine cooling fan operation is adjusted. Engine cooling fan operation may also be controlled in response to vehicle operating conditions.

An exhaust gas recirculation system for an engine includes a conduit, and a U-shaped exhaust gas mixer. The conduit is configured to direct an exhaust gas away from an exhaust manifold. The U-shaped exhaust gas mixer is configured to direct exhaust gas from the conduit and into an engine air intake system. The U-shaped exhaust gas mixer is arranged with a pre-mixing cavity configured to disperse the exhaust gas and entraining the exhaust gas into an intake air flow prior to distribution into an intake manifold of an engine.

Methods and systems are provided for directing the flow of recirculated exhaust gas (EGR) delivered to an EGR cooler. In one example, a method includes flowing EGR through an EGR cooler positioned in an EGR passage, the EGR cooler comprising a bypass passage, a first cooler core flow path, and a second cooler core flow path, and adjusting a valve of the EGR cooler to selectively block flow of the EGR through the bypass passage, the first cooler core flow path, and the second cooler core flow path. In this way, fouling of the EGR cooler may be reduced.

Methods and systems are provided for expediting EGR purging in a hybrid vehicle during transient operations, such as tip-out to lower load conditions. In response to decreasing engine torque demand, engine fueling is disabled and a motor is used to spin the engine unfueled until a desired LP-EGR rate is achieved. Alternatively, engine operation is maintained with EGR disabled until the desired LP-EGR rate is achieved, and the excess engine torque generated is stored in a system battery.
