D R A W I N G wherein n is 1 or 2 and R is a monovalent or divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aryl radical produced by the reaction of n moles of an isocyanate or diisocynate with n moles of N-hydroxymethyl-2pyrrolidinone and uses thereof.
Abstract:
Plant growth regulating compounds are substituted 2chloroethylphosphonic diamides of the formula:
WHEREIN R1 is cycloalkyl, R2 is hydrogen or cycloalkyl or R1 and R2 together form a heterocyclic ring such as morpholine, piperidine or pyrrolidine. They are prepared by the reaction of 2-chloroethylphosphonic dihalide with the appropriate amine or by the reaction of excess amine with a 2-chloroethyl dichlorophosphite followed by rearrangement of the chloroethyl ester intermediate.
WHEREIN X is oxygen or sulfur and R is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, are useful as plant growth regulators when administered to plants in association with a carrier. The compounds are prepared by reaction of the 2-chloroethylphosphonic acid chloride with phosphorus pentasulfide to form 2chloroethylphosphonothioic acid chloride and reaction of this material with water to form the acid, hydrogen sulfide to form the trithioic acid, and reaction with an alcohol or thioalcohol to form the esters.
Abstract:
THE REACTION OF 1,3-BUTADIENE WITH POLYCYCLIC SULFONYL HALIDES, AND RESULTING PRODUCTS CONTAINING A NUCLEARLY SUBSTITUTED -SO2CH2CH=CHCH2X GROUP, X BEING HALO, USEFUL AS HERBICIDES, PESTICIDES, AND INTERMEDIATES FOR DYES AND THE LIKE.
Abstract:
THE COMPOUNDS ARE OF THE CLASS OF 2-HALO-3-HYDROXYACRYLAMIDES, A SPECIES BEING 2,3'',4''-TRICHLORO-3-HYDROXYACRYLANILIDE, USEFUL AS HERBICIDES, FUNGICIDES, CORROSION INHIBITORS, ANTIOXIDANTS AND ADDITIVES FOR LUBE OILS.
Abstract:
THE COMPOUNDS ARE ESTERS AND HALF ESTERS OF VINYLPHOSPHONIC ACID REPRESENTEDBY THE FOLLOWING STRUCTURAL FORMULA:
2-(CH2=CH-P(=O)(-O-R5)-O-),3-R1,4-R2,5-R3,6-R4-PHENOL WHEREIN R1-R4 ARE EITHER HYDROGEN, ALKYL, ALKOXY, OR HALO AND TWO OF THE SUBSTITUENT GROUPS MAY FORM A CONDENSED RING AND R5 IS EITHER HYDROGEN, AN AROMATIC, A CYCLOALIPHATIC, OR AN ALIPHATIC GROUP, WHEREIN THE CARBON ATOM LINKED TO THE OXYGEN IS NOT TERTIARY. THE COMPOUNDS POSSESS PLANT GROWTH REGULATING PROPERTIES, E.G., CONTROL OF APICAL DOMINANCE, AND MAY ALSO BE EMPLOYED AS MONOMERS FOR THE PROUCTION OF POLYMERS. THE COMPOUNDS ARE PRODUCED FROM THE CATECHOL AND SUBSTITUTED CATECHOL CYCLIC ESTERS OF VINYLPHOSPHONIC ACID, WITH THE HALF ESTERS BEING PRODUCED BY HYDROLYSIS OF THE CYCLIC ESTER AND THE ESTERS BEING PRODUCED BY TRANSESTERIFICATION OF THE CYCLIC ESTER WITH A SUITABLE ALCOHOL.
Abstract:
1,200,339. Anthraquinone dyestuffs. GAF CORP. 4 Dec., 1967 [5 Dec., 1966], No. 54961/67. Heading C4P. The invention comprises anthraquinone dyestuffs of general formula wherein X is -NHR or OH, R is H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, Y is H, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy or halogen, and Z is H, hydroxy or -NHR with the proviso that at least one of Y and Z is the grouping wherein B is -O- or -NH-, R 1 is H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy and R 2 represents the carbon atoms necessary to complete a 5- to 7- membered heterocycle of the lactam series, e.g. a pyrrolidinone, piperidone or e-caprolactam ring. They are prepared by reacting the corresponding anthraquinone compound with an N-methylol lactam at 15‹ to 60‹ C. in an acid medium, e.g. sulphuric acid. The dyes give reddish blue and cerise shades on polyester, polyamide or cellulose.
