Abstract: A system for a vehicle-to-vehicle charging service for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) includes a real-time server (RTS). The RTS wirelessly communicates with communication devices associated with individual PEVs having membership in the charging service and provides to the communication devices real-time positions of individual PEVs on a map of a terrain. The system also includes a first communication device for a first PEV configured to wirelessly transmit, via the RTS, to communication devices associated with the remaining PEVs, a request for an amount of electrical energy to charge the first PEV. The system additionally includes a second communication device associated with a second PEV and configured to wirelessly transmit, via the RTS, to the first communication device an offer to dispense the requested amount of electrical energy. The first communication device is further configured to wirelessly transmit, via the RTS, to the second communication device acceptance of the offer.

Abstract: A charging cable assembly for charging a first plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) from a second PEV includes first and second female sockets for connecting the first and second PEVs. The cable assembly additionally includes a charging station emulator for providing two-way communication between the first and second PEVs and monitoring ability of the first PEV to accept a charge and ability of the second PEV to supply the charge. The cable assembly further includes an electrical cable bundle having a first distal end connected to the first female socket and a second distal end connected to the second female socket. The cable bundle is in electrical communication with the charging station emulator and is configured to transmit the charge and provide two-way communication between the first and second PEVs.

Abstract: An economy advisory system includes a circuit and a display. The circuit is configured to receive a route plan remainder of a vehicle and receive a plurality of consumption factor values of the vehicle while the vehicle traverses the route plan. The plurality of consumption factor values is controllable by a driver of the vehicle. The circuit is further configured to modify the plurality of consumption factor values based upon a plurality of modification factor values, calculate a plurality of potential range changes of the vehicle based on the route plan remainder and the plurality of consumption factor values as modified, and identify a group that has at least one of the plurality of potential range changes and a corresponding at least one of the plurality of modification factor values. The display is in communication with the circuit and is configured to present the group to the driver.

Abstract: A non-linear stiffness actuator for a suspension corner employed in a vehicle includes an actuator housing and an actuator shaft configured to transmit an actuator force to the road wheel. The actuator also includes a primary elastic member assembly arranged between the actuator housing and the actuator shaft and configured to exert a primary elastic member force along the actuator shaft. The actuator additionally includes a secondary elastic member assembly configured to exert a variable secondary elastic member force acting between the actuator housing and the actuator shaft. The variable secondary elastic member force is configured to selectively contribute to and subtract from the primary elastic member force to thereby facilitate the non-linear stiffness of the actuator. A vehicle having such a non-linear stiffness actuator is also provided.
