    Abstract: An image capture device detects a wind whistle using two or more microphones. The image capture device includes a processor that obtains microphone signals from the two or more microphones and measures coherence values between the microphone signals across a frequency band. The frequency band includes frequency bins, and the processor measures a coherence value for each frequency bin. Based on a detection of an elevated coherence value in a frequency bin, the processor determines the presence of a whistle. The processor attenuates the frequency bin based on a determination that the elevated coherence value is above a threshold.

    Abstract: An image capture device includes an audio depression formed into the housing with a drainage microphone mounted therein. A cover protects the drainage microphone disposed beneath the cover from an environment external to the image capture device. The cover and audio depression define a drainage channel extending from a channel entrance, through a channel volume, and out a channel exit. The surface area of the opening of the channel entrance is proportioned relative to the channel volume such that the ratio of the surface area to volume is greater than ten percent. This allows the cover to shift resonance outside of a desired frequency band.

    Abstract: A camera includes one or more microphone pairs. A first microphone (e.g., a main microphone) is ported to the outside of the camera and captures the desired external audio signal, but may also capture undesired vibrational noise. A second microphone has a similar structure to the first microphone, but is not ported to the outside of the camera. Instead, the second microphone is ported into an enclosed cavity (e.g., 1-2 cubic centimeters in volume). The second microphone may pick up the same vibration excitation and internal acoustic noise as the first microphone but very little of the desired external acoustic sounds around the camera. The unwanted noise can then be removed by subtracting the second audio signal from the second microphone from the main audio signal from the main microphone.
