Abstract: This management system for a computer system including a plurality of resources receives designation of an app usage and refers to management information, which includes information about the plurality of resources. The management system determines, for a target virtual server (a virtual server that executes the app for the designated app usage), at least one of the specification of resources to be allocated for exclusive use and the specification of resources to be allocated for shared use, in accordance with app requirements associated with the designated app usage. The plurality of resources includes a plurality of logical volumes and a plurality of computer resources including a plurality of kinds of computer resources. The computer system includes a server system including two or more computer resources included among the plurality of computer resources. The resource specifications include the kinds of resources, app usages associated with resources, and/or the number of resources.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide a technique to manage object based tier to improve allocation of media to unallocated area. In one embodiment, a method of allocating an area of a logical volume to an unallocated area of a virtual volume for a write command comprises: calculating an object location of an object based on the write command and an object allocation information, the write command containing a virtual volume name and a virtual volume address of a virtual volume; selecting a tier from a plurality of tiers based on the calculated object location and an object and tier definition information; selecting a media type from a plurality of media types based on the selected tier and a tier and media definition information; and selecting a logical volume from a plurality of logical volumes based on the virtual volume specified by the write command, the object allocation information, a pool information, and the selected media type.

Abstract: A computing device includes a storage unit storing a job list, and a computing unit that performs a computation related to an instance capable of executing burst processing by consuming credits. The job list is a list of batch jobs. The batch jobs include a plurality of combinations of a time frame and data regarding a size of a job, the time frame being set as a combination of a time point at which execution of the job can be started and a time point at which the job should have been completed. The burst processing of the job is at a speed exceeding a baseline but not exceeding a maximum speed, the baseline being a processing speed of the job that can always be attained. The computing unit determines whether or not the job can be completed within the time frame, for the batch jobs in the job list.
